The second season of “Solo Leveling” has been consistently impressing its fanbase with each episode, largely due to the top-notch animation provided by A-1 Pictures. Fans were already captivated by the Korean Manhwa series for its stunning action sequences and undeniably powerful protagonist, Sung Jinwoo. However, what’s remarkable is that the anime adaptation not only lives up to but often exceeds the quality of the manhwa series.
In the initial season, Sung Jinwoo adapted to a power bestowed upon him by the Architect – The System. Although he significantly enhanced his strength during Season 1 of “Solo Leveling,” it wasn’t sufficient to draw attention from other powerful characters within the series. However, the dynamics shifted in the second season, as Jinwoo gradually drew the interest and admiration of some formidable Hunters. So far, these high-ranking individuals had learned about Jinwoo’s potential through various channels, but in episode 6 of Season 2, they finally got a firsthand glimpse of his abilities.
Sung Jinwoo’s Surprising Display Of Power In An A-Rank Dungeon
He Defeats The High Orcs Army And The Dungeon Boss Without Any Help
Jinwoo, who had already aced the re-evaluation test to become Korea’s tenth S-Rank Hunter, was yet to receive official recognition and his certificate. In the meantime, he opted to participate in A-Rank Dungeon raids. This way, he could legitimize certain items in his possession that he might need to sell later on. Despite this, at Son Kihoon’s request, Jinwoo took up a porter role in the latest Dungeon raid. The task seemed straightforward, but the appearance of the High Orcs army complicated matters for the party. As the Surveillance Team pointed out, the energy surge turned this A-Rank Gate into a threat on par with an S-Rank Dungeon.
The Hunters quivered at the sight of the immense High Orc army, large enough to flatten a human city if they escaped the Dungeon. To make matters worse, Kargalgan, the Dungeon Boss, was so powerful that fear gripped everyone. Apart from Son Kihoon, the rest of the raiders were frozen with fear and resigned to their fate, expecting a slow and agonizing death. All they could do was watch helplessly as Kargalgan toyed with Hunter using his Gravitation Spell. But in that instant, Sung Jinwoo decides to unleash his full potential, unwilling to see the raiders perish under his watch.
You’ll regret underestimating us – Sung Jinwoo to Kargalgan.
The elite A-Rank Hunters found it impossible to take on even a solitary High Orc warrior, but then they beheld Jinwoo effortlessly slaying numerous High Orcs in the span of a moment. These Hunters had previously witnessed summoning magic, yet they had never encountered a Hunter capable of summoning an entire legion of Shadow Soldiers. What’s more, no one had ever before observed a Hunter utilizing a deceased adversary to augment his army. In the ensuing battle, Jinwoo and his Shadow Soldiers overpowered the entire High Orc force, leaving the rest of the party with nothing but the role of onlookers as they watched the conflict unfold.
Cha Hae-In Arrives To Help But Is Left Stunned By Jinwoo’s Strength
Hunter Association’s Surveillance Team Also Arrives On The Scene
Ever since Cha Hae-In first encountered Jinwoo, she’s been captivated by him and his enigmatic nature as a Hunter. This curiosity led her to seek more information about him. She learns that Jinwoo had joined an A-Rank Gate expedition as a porter. Intrigued, she chooses to tag along with the raiding party. Yet, she quickly picks up on an overpowering energy emanating from the dungeon. Concerned for the safety of the raiding party, she begins to question how they managed to eliminate so many High Orcs. Her questions are soon answered when she steps into the Boss room. There, she bears witness to Jinwoo single-handedly overpowering an entire army of High Orcs and a high-ranking Boss without any external assistance.
Instead of straining to conquer this formidable adversary, Jinwoo was showing off his newly discovered abilities, as he had never before encountered such a powerful foe. From afar, Cha Hae-In, armed with an axe, observed Jinwoo clearing the entire dungeon. It wasn’t that Cha Hae-In lacked the ability to defeat the boss; rather, it was her belief that Jinwoo didn’t need assistance that kept her from entering the fray.
In my view, this individual seems to excel in combat, making him a formidable fighter. Yet, it’s not just brute force that defines his prowess; he possesses the ability to summon magic as well. Thus, the power that Hunter Sung wields is truly impressive – Cha Hae-In.
As Jinwoo continued on, a team from the Hunter Association tagged along, having been aware of his hidden abilities beforehand. Yet, this was the first time they truly observed his strength unfold. They had come to assist the assault squad, but what greeted them instead was an unexpected spectacle: Jinwoo effortlessly subduing the massive Kargalgan with his powers. Unbeknownst to him, some of Korea’s most powerful individuals were secretly observing his demonstration of might, a test he seemed unaware he was undertaking.
Kargalgan Pays The Price Of Underestimating Jinwoo
Initially, Kargalgan held a low opinion of humans, regarding them as feeble like insects. Thus, he found it hard to believe that a human could overpower him. Yet, upon sensing Jinwoo’s strength, Kargalgan came to understand that Jinwoo was not just any human, but a Monarch. Despite giving his utmost effort, the disparity in their power proved insurmountable. In the end, true to his word, Jinwoo claimed Kargalgan for his Shadow Army. In those last moments, Kargalgan regretted his underestimation of Sung Jinwoo and his Shadow Army.
It seems my title of the Ultimate Hunter has become a joke – Choi Jong-In.
Despite encountering more formidable Hunters or entities, nobody has ever observed a solo Korean Hunter successfully conquering an A-Rank Dungeon. Moreover, it was unprecedented to see an assassin-type Hunter employ magic to manipulate the undead creatures and assemble a colossal horde. Choi Jong-In, one of Korea’s top Hunters, shares this disbelief. In the end, Choi Jong-In starts questioning his own worthiness of holding the title “The Ultimate Hunter,” considering he himself couldn’t subdue the toughest A-Rank Dungeon on his own.
