JLab JBuds Lux ANC Wireless Headphones review

JLab JBuds Lux ANC Wireless Headphones review

As someone who spends countless hours listening to music, podcasts, and conference calls, I find myself constantly seeking high-quality audio gear that won’t break the bank. The JLab JBuds Lux ANC wireless headphones have been a game-changer for me!

One audio brand that continually innovates is JLab Audio. Their range includes the high-end Epic Edition in-ear buds, as well as the mid-range JLab Studio Pro Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) headset. The quality of their recently released budget offerings has consistently impressed. Among them are the JBuds Lux ANC wireless headphones, marketed as their first luxury headset, although they are priced slightly lower than the Pro ANC model.

40mm audio drivers deliver a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with minimal distortion, implying exceptional sound quality. Like the Pro model, there is a slight sound leakage when Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) is turned on, but for under £80, they perform remarkably well. However, more costly brands may offer slightly superior performance in this regard.

It’s generally agreed that they’re more aesthetically pleasing than their counterparts, but this is subjective. The advantages include a glossy surface and a slightly matte finish instead. Despite the difference, they remain as sleek and comfortable, fitting snugly even on my round-shaped head. They can also be easily folded for storage in a bag or drawer.

Default sound quality is very good, but you can use the JLab app to alter things if you feel you need to. And you may, if bass isn’t your thing. The standard preset is pretty boomy, so if you’re not a fan of heavy bass, you may want to tweak the sound output. The built-in “Safe Hearing Mode” is also good for those on the other end of the spectrum, with more sensitive ears.

The JBuds Lux can be charged via a standard USB-3 cable and boast an impressive battery life. I found myself wearing them for extended periods while working or unwinding, and the battery performance was consistently strong. Their ability to switch effortlessly between two devices, thanks to Multi-Point Bluetooth technology, makes them perfect for work environments where device switches, like moving from a phone to a laptop for calls, are common.

Without a doubt, one of the standout features is their exceptional comfort. The ear cups rotate, offering a snug fit that feels like a dream on your head, thanks to JLab’s “Cloud Foam” technology. Moreover, when worn around your neck, you can adjust the cups to face downwards for a more comfortable fit on your shoulders due to their rotating design.

In essence, the JLab JBuds Lux ANC wireless headphones deliver exceptional worth for their price and boast superior sound quality along with a variety of practical features such as Multi-Point connection. Compared to JLab’s Pro model, they are slightly less expensive yet offer similar functionality. While they may not be the most budget-friendly option compared to models like the Canyon BTHS-3, the additional premium features make their higher price well worth it.
