JLab Studio Pro ANC Wireless Headset review

JLab Studio Pro ANC Wireless Headset review

As a long-time gamer and tech enthusiast, I’ve tried my fair share of headsets over the years. From high-end models with advanced features to budget options that surprise us all, I’ve experienced it all. Recently, I had the pleasure of testing JLab’s Studio Pro ANC Headphones, and I must admit, I was quite impressed.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed how challenging it can be to choose the right Bluetooth headset from the multitude of brands and models available in the market, regardless of your budget. However, I’ve discovered that JLab is a brand worth considering in the mid-tier range. Known for their affordable options, they have been making significant strides and sometimes even outperforming more expensive brands. Recently, I had the opportunity to test their JLab Studio Pro ANC Headphones, and based on my experience, these headphones might just add another success story to their impressive portfolio.

To begin with, this headset is visually appealing with its sleek design. The ear cups are compact, fitting snugly against your ears without sticking out, boasting a matte black finish and free of excessive embellishments. The aesthetic aligns well with Logitech’s brand identity. Each cup features a 1-inch thick foam cushion covered in leather for added comfort, making them gentle on your ears.

The Studio Pro headphones offer great comfort for extended use, weighing approximately 220g each. Their lightweight design allows you to wear them effortlessly for hours. Conveniently located controls include a volume control and a start/stop button on the right ear cup, along with an ANC toggle in the JLab logo. The headphones provide three equalizer settings, although I found minimal difference in sound quality. Fortunately, their decent sound quality makes up for this minor shortcoming.

Based on my personal experience, I have found the JLab Studio Pro headphones to be a decent choice for noise cancellation, but they don’t quite live up to my expectations when it comes to eliminating external noise completely. Although there are different settings to adjust the level of noise-cancelling, I’ve noticed that even on the highest setting, some ambient sounds still come through.

JLab Studio Pro ANC Wireless Headset review

As a long-time user of various headphones for both personal and professional use, I’ve come across my fair share of wired models that disappoint when it comes to active noise cancellation (ANC). So, it was quite intriguing to discover a pair that bucked this trend.

Over the past three weeks, I’ve primarily utilized these headphones for background music during work sessions. With the SteamDeck’s Bluetooth capability, they have proven to be quite convenient. Although the bass is a tad excessive on the default equalizer setting at times, I’ve had no major issues. Their impressive battery life, which supposedly lasts up to 45 hours according to the packaging, seems remarkably accurate based on my usage so far. I can’t precisely quantify how many hours I’ve employed them, but I have yet to need a recharge in this period.

The JLab Studio Pro headphones include a small, adorable black carry case that can be easily packed away. Given their lightweight and portable design, these headphones are an excellent choice for those on the go. However, some consumers might find the price point of approximately £99 to be a barrier. Although this falls within the mid-range category, the lack of accompanying software and sound leakage that undermines the noise cancellation feature may prompt potential buyers to explore other options before making a decision. Despite some drawbacks, these headphones are not the worst in their class, but shoppers might want to consider exploring alternatives before purchasing for nearly £100.

If you choose the JLab Studio Pro ANC Headset, you’re unlikely to be disappointed by its construction and sound. This headset boasts an attractive design and exceptional comfort. While its active noise-cancelling isn’t revolutionary, it still effectively reduces background noise. Plus, you can enjoy good audio quality without needing to delve deep into a companion app.
