Join Critical Role’s Epic Charity One-Shot for LA Fire Relief on January 30!

Summary

  • Critical Role is hosting a charity one-shot campaign on January 30 for Los Angeles fire relief.
  • Fans can donate funds to vote on monsters, hazards, and surprises that will appear during the show.
  • After being delayed by the LA fires, Critical Role will return to its normal campaign on February 6.

Critical Role has announced they’ll be hosting a unique charity event – a special Dungeons & Dragons campaign – on January 30th, with all proceeds going towards those impacted by the Los Angeles fires. By donating to various charities, D&D fans can also participate in deciding the monsters, obstacles, and unexpected elements that the Critical Role cast will face during this special broadcast.

In light of the destructive wildfires in Los Angeles, countless residents have suffered significant losses, including the loss of their homes and means of living. To show support during this difficult time, the cast of Critical Role decided to postpone their weekly episode on January 9, allowing them and their community to cope with the aftermath. Additionally, they made a generous donation of $30,000 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund.

In a significant move, Critical Role is advancing further in supporting fire relief efforts in Los Angeles. The live-action role-playing group has declared a unique, non-continuity one-shot game starring the Bells Hells party from Campaign 3 will occur on Thursday, January 30th. From this moment until the end of the special episode airing at its regular time of 7 PM PST on Twitch, YouTube, and Beacon (Critical Role’s streaming platform), donors to this charity campaign can cast their votes for the challenges, monsters, and other surprises that Bells Hells will face during their escapade.

Contributors who donate funds will gain the ability to cast powerful spells in a fictional setting similar to “Critical Role”, such as Sickening Radiance, Maelstrom, Insect Plague, and Meteor Swarm. They can also unleash fearsome creatures like the Froghemoth, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Ira Wendagoth, the Nightmare King upon the party. Donation milestones introduce additional exciting elements, such as a body swap day, unexpected teleportations, or summoning extra allies or adversaries during the show. The first five donors contributing $5,000 can even create their own characters to be played by Matt Mercer, the renowned GM and voice actor of “Critical Role”.

As a passionate supporter, I’m excited to share that while our one-time event takes place on January 30th, our charity drive doesn’t stop there! It will keep going strong until February 28th. Apart from administration fees and a 10% emergency fund allocation, the remaining funds we raise together will be equally distributed among three incredible causes: the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, the Latino Community Foundation, and the LA Fire Department Foundation. Let’s make a difference, one dollar at a time!

Just as we’ve outlined earlier, “Critical Role” is set to resume regular play on February 6th, with Campaign 3 nearing its finale. Fans will eagerly await what “Critical Role” reveals next once the tale of the Bells Hells concludes.
