Yuji Itadori has consistently demonstrated incredible power and skill, establishing himself as one of the strongest sorcerers in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Many fans now consider him to be among the most powerful characters in the series.
Yuji Itadori faced incredibly tough battles on his path to becoming a powerful sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, nearly losing his life on several occasions. This article will highlight the four strongest opponents he fought, and explain why they ultimately didn’t win.
The Finger Bearer Technically Did Defeat Yuji
Saved By Sukuna
- The Special Grade Cursed Spirit.
The Finger Bearer was a remarkably strong Cursed Spirit, created from the cursed energy of one of Sukuna’s fingers. This spirit nearly defeated Yuji, and many believe it actually did win the fight. It managed to sever Yuji’s arm and leave him on the brink of death before Sukuna intervened.
When Sukuna woke up during the fight, he initially intended to team up with the Finger Bearer to kill people. However, he quickly changed his mind when he realized the Curse saw him as an enemy. Sukuna easily overpowered the Special Grade Cursed Spirit, ultimately using Malevolent Shrine to destroy it. While Yuji didn’t win directly, this still helped the situation.
Mahito’s Technique Worked On Everyone Aside From Yuji
Yuji’s Most Hated Opponent
- A sadistic villain.
Throughout the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji and Mahito clashed several times, consistently establishing Mahito as a truly cruel and villainous character. Mahito’s cursed technique, Idle Transfiguration, is incredibly dangerous—even a single touch can transform a strong sorcerer into a helpless, altered human.
With his immense power, Mahito was even able to defeat Kento Nanami, a highly skilled and famous sorcerer. However, because Sukuna resided within Yuji’s body, Mahito couldn’t use his unique cursed technique on him. This unintentionally gave Yuji a natural defense against what is considered the most powerful cursed technique in Jujutsu Kaisen. Without that limitation, it’s likely Mahito would have easily overcome Yuji.
Higuruma Could Have Struck Yuji Down With A Single Touch
Effects of his Domain
- The most talented sorcerer.
Higuruma quickly became a key player after his introduction in the Culling Game. While he eventually fought alongside Jujutsu High during the Shinjuku Showdown, he initially opposed Yuji, nearly defeating him in a dangerous battle.
During their battle, Higuruma activated his Domain Expansion and quickly took away Yuji’s cursed energy abilities, putting Yuji at a significant disadvantage. However, near the end, Higuruma learned that Sukuna, not Yuji, was responsible for the Shibuya disaster. This caused him to lower his defenses and intentionally allow Yuji to land the final blow. Had he not done so, his powerful sword would have instantly killed Yuji.
Sukuna Was The Strongest Sorcerer Who Took Down Gojo
Would’ve Lost Without The Rest Of The Heroes
- Fated opponents.
Sukuna and Yuji’s destinies have been connected for a millennium, as that’s how long Kenjaku had been orchestrating events. This meant they were always headed for a confrontation, which finally happened at the conclusion of the original Jujutsu Kaisen story. However, the difference in their power levels was immense; only Gojo, the most powerful sorcerer of his time, stood a chance against Sukuna, the King of Curses.
The intense fight between the two most powerful sorcerers left Sukuna nearly exhausted, signaling the other heroes to join the fray. Even with all of them fighting together, it was a close battle, and Yuji ultimately delivered the finishing attacks. Under normal circumstances, neither Yuji nor anyone else could have even harmed Sukuna at full strength.
