Jujutsu Kaisen: 5 Weakest Cursed Techniques In The Culling Game, Ranked

Jujutsu Kaisen is famous for its amazing abilities and incredibly powerful characters, some of whom could single-handedly destroy countries. Characters like Sukuna and Gojo are world-renowned and feared for their overwhelming strength, possessing techniques so powerful that even the most skilled sorcerers and cursed spirits can’t withstand them.

Most characters in Jujutsu Kaisen have impressive abilities, but the Culling Game arc introduced some exceptions. Several sorcerers appeared in this arc, and a few of them had surprisingly weak or ineffective Cursed Techniques. Here’s a look at five of the worst ones.

Mai Zenin’s Low Cursed Energy Held Back Her Amazing Technique

Cursed Technique: Construction

  • The weaker twin.

Early in Jujutsu Kaisen, many fans thought Mai was stronger than her sister, mostly because she possessed a Cursed Technique. However, her technique, called Construction, was actually quite weak. This was due to the fact that she was a twin, which is a significant disadvantage in the Jujutsu world because a twin’s Cursed Energy is divided between two people.

Because of this limitation, she could only create one bullet each day, leaving her severely weakened. However, this wasn’t a flaw of the technique itself; another sorcerer, Yorozu, possessed the same ability but was powerful enough to fight Sukuna thanks to her vast Cursed Energy. This demonstrated the issue lay with the user’s strength, not the technique.

Hazenoki Was A Talented Sorcerer With A Bad Cursed Technique

Cursed Technique: Explosive Flesh

  • Everything considered, Hazenoki was quite talented.

Reverse Cursed Technique is a highly advanced Jujutsu ability, indicating exceptional talent in anyone who can perform it. Because of this, Hazenoki is among the few characters known to wield this technique, giving him a deep understanding of Cursed Energy.

Hazenoki’s Cursed Technique, Explosive Flesh, is risky because it forces him to injure himself to use it. He essentially throws pieces of his own body at opponents as explosives. Without his skill in Reverse Cursed Technique, this ability would be completely unworkable.

Haba And Hanyu’s Techniques Were Hilarious And Weak

Cursed Techniques: Helicopter Hair and Airplane Hair

  • Weaklings who only targeted rookies.

Haba and Hanyu were small-time villains in the Culling Game, and they quickly showed their weakness by only attacking new players. Their abilities allowed them to fly – Haba’s hair acted like helicopter rotors, while Hanyu’s resembled airplane wings.

While flying makes them quick and hard to capture, these abilities didn’t pose a significant challenge in the story. Despite being fast, they aren’t durable enough to withstand the strain, which limits the effectiveness of their cursed techniques.

Charles Bernard Could See The Future, But Very Little Of It

Cursed Technique: G Warstaff

  • Cool concept, poor execution.

Charles Bernard was a supporting character in the Culling Game arc, and he dreamed of becoming a manga artist. His unique ability, called G Warstaff – which was linked to a special tool of the same name – allowed him to glimpse into the future. While this might seem incredibly powerful, there were limitations to how and when he could use it.

G Warstaff lets Charles briefly see one second into the future of anyone he touches, and continued contact extends this vision. However, Charles wasn’t a strong enough fighter to reliably use this ability, and even a one-second glimpse isn’t very helpful in a fight.

Remi’s Hair Had One Job, And It Couldn’t Even Do That Right

Cursed Technique: Scorpion Hair

  • What’s there to even say?

Cursed Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen vary greatly – some are for defense, others provide support, and some are powerful attacks. Remi’s technique is an offensive one, though it’s not particularly strong. Her hair functions like a large scorpion tail, able to move on its own to ‘sting’ enemies. Many fans believe her Cursed Energy is within the hair, acting like a poison.

This ability is surprisingly weak. We saw this during her fight with Megumi, where her successful hits barely affected him – he easily shrugged them off. The technique itself doesn’t seem very strong, and in practice, it proved even weaker than expected. It only caused Megumi minor irritation where she made contact, making it the least effective technique seen so far in the Culling Game arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
