The popular manga series, “Jujutsu Kaisen,” is recognized as one of the largest shonen manga series globally. It achieved phenomenal success and often surpassed sales records set by “One Piece.” Unfortunately, the series concluded last year, leaving fans worldwide disheartened. However, it was anticipated that creator Gege would resume work soon, and now, he has officially resumed his work on the series.
Enthusiasts of the “Jujutsu Kaisen” series were taken aback by recent developments regarding their beloved mangaka, Gege Akutami. In fact, it has been disclosed that Gege Akutami is embarking on a new manga project, and it is set to begin as soon as next week. This upcoming manga goes by the name Mojurō, and while details about this series are scarce at present, fans can’t contain their excitement.
Gege Akutami is Returning with a New Manga
- Short Series known as “Mojurō”
- Starting Next Week in Shonen Jump
Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, is returning to Weekly Shonen Jump with a fresh new manga titled Mojurō. As of now, this manga doesn’t have an official English title, so it’s currently known by that name.

Surprisingly, the creator himself, Gege, is penning this fresh narrative, yet it appears that he’s not handling the illustrations. Instead, the gifted artist responsible for the visual aspect of this manga is Yuji Iwasaki, a name perhaps familiar to fans from Cypher Academy. Recently, a sneak peek into this promising manga was unveiled, offering a glimpse at one of its characters.
In the forthcoming Weekly Shonen Jump issue number 41, I’ve learned that a fresh manga will debut with its opening chapter. As of now, the total chapter count for this series remains unclear, but whispers suggest it’s going to be a concise tale. Fans can anticipate at least 15-20 chapters, and honestly, that’s a considerable amount of intrigue to savor!
Will Gege Ever Return To Jujutsu Kaisen?
A Jujutsu Kaisen Return Is Highly Unlikely

Fans are eagerly anticipating Gege’s resumption of manga creation, and there’s no doubt that they ponder if he might revisit Jujutsu Kaisen. However, it seems improbable that Gege will delve back into Jujutsu Kaisen, especially not with a project as substantial as a sequel or prequel.
Gege is currently swamped with the responsibilities of his new, albeit short, series, requiring a significant amount of time to develop and write an engaging story that will captivate fans. For now, fans are anxiously anticipating the start of Mojuro, with the series’ first chapter set to be released officially on Manga Plus on September 6, 2025. Fans will have the opportunity to read it for free.

By late 2024, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga had concluded, and it’s possible to read it online. You can find it on Manga Plus, where it was previously published weekly in installments. As for the anime adaptation, there are currently two seasons, with fans anticipating the upcoming third season. For now, the first two seasons can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
