In terms of battle shonen series, Jujutsu Kaisen stands out as one of the most exhilarating rollercoaster rides among recent releases. The storyline transports viewers into numerous intense confrontations that transform the world into a battleground for individuals endowed with extraordinary powers that often defy the norms of physics. Jujutsu Kaisen boasts one of the most captivating power systems, and the characters who wield it are some of the most formidable personalities in anime.
Characters such as Satoru Gojo, capable of destroying entire buildings in an instant, and Sukuna, able to reduce city blocks to dust, are almost commonplace in the realm of Jujutsu Kaisen. While there’s no shortage of characters with extraordinary abilities, it’s equally true that many fail to meet expectations. In the harsh universe of Jujutsu Kaisen, it’s survival for the strongest, and those who fall short often find themselves as casualties rather than contenders. Here are some unexpectedly weak characters from Jujutsu Kaisen.
8. Momo Nishimiya
The Third Year Witch Girl
- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 14
In the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, during the Kyoto Good Will arc, a new group of second-tier jujutsu sorcerers emerged as adversaries to the primary characters Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki. This group included Momo Nishimiya, a young girl with blonde hair who was often seen riding on a broom belonging to a witch.
Initially, Momo didn’t appear to be battle-focused, and though she managed to annoy Kugisaki during their fight, she ultimately couldn’t keep up. To put it another way, when she participated in the assault against Geto and Uraume, her cursed ability made little impact.
7. Masamichi Yaga
The Respected Principal Of Jujutsu High

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 2
In the first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” Masamichi Yaga debuted as the headmaster of Tokyo Jujutsu High. He’s known for his straightforwardness and strict discipline, which are typical traits for someone in his position who is responsible for both teaching and safeguarding his students. Although specific details about his cursed technique were not initially revealed, it was hinted that he played a role in creating cursed entities like the character Panda. Masamichi appears to command respect from his colleagues, even Satoru Gojo. However, it became apparent that Masamichi lacks combat skills when he was targeted by Gakuganji.
6. Kechizu
A Minor Cursed Womb

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 22
In the initial season of Jujutsu Kaisen, characters like Kechizu and his brother Eso were introduced during the Cursed Womb Arc. Unlike Eso who showed remarkable skills in combat against Jujutsu sorcerers, Kechizu didn’t seem equipped for battle. He had a more hideous appearance than his older sibling, making him frail and emotionally vulnerable. In a crucial moment, when Kugisaki struck Esu, he chose to relinquish victory for the sake of protecting Kechizu. As far as the hierarchy of curses and curse users goes, Kechizu ranked quite low, and he was swiftly overpowered by Yuji Itadori in their confrontation.
5. Mai Zenin
The Unremarkable Twin

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 8
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the Zenin sisters were a widely discussed duo within their clan. Maki Zenin, born under celestial limitations, possesses no cursed energy and is unable to perceive cursed spirits. Yet, she excels in extraordinary physical prowess. In contrast, Mai Zenin can manipulate cursed energy and has a unique skill that enables her to generate objects out of thin air, much like alchemy. Regrettably, Mai’s potential is limited, even compared to Maki, who demonstrates greater aptitude for battling cursed users and spirits.
4. Toge Inumaki
An Underwhelmingly Powerful Curse User

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 5
At Tokyo Jujutsu High School, Toge Inumaki is a third-year student and companions with Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu. Like many users of curses, Inumaki holds an extraordinarily potent curse ability that manifests as cursed speech. This skill empowers him to control targets through commands and proclamations. However, this talent demands a significant price, as it exhausts Inumaki significantly during combat, especially when the challenges are steep. Moreover, Inumaki lacks notable physical strengths, making him somewhat of a disadvantage in full-scale battles.
3. Takuma Ino
A Powerful Sorcerer Born In The Wrong Era

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 12
In the anime “Jujutsu Kaisen,” we were introduced to Takuma Ino, who had recently advanced to grade two sorcery level. This introduction took place during the Shibuya Arc in season two. Immediately upon his debut, Ino was lauded for being a skilled sorcerer with an exceptional and distinctive cursed technique called Auspicious Beast Summoning.
Though Ino possessed a multitude of potent abilities, his path crossed with the resurrected Toji Fushiguro, a fateful encounter that nearly cost him his life. His warrior spirit as a jujutsu sorcerer was shattered, leaving him utterly defeated. As the story unfolds, Ino reappears, yet his influence in the climactic battle of Jujutsu Kaisen is minimal.
2. Kasumi Miwa
Shockingly Useless In All Aspects

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 8
Kasumi Miwa, also known as “Useless Miwa” by herself, is a sophomore at Tokyo Jujutsu High and a practitioner of the New Shadow Style Swordsmanship, much like Atsuya Kusakabe. From the start of the series, it appears that Miwa doesn’t possess the physical and strategic abilities that her classmates do.
Though she showed immense resolve and commitment, it appeared her magical aptitude and ability were not sufficient for her to emerge as a powerful sorceress. This became evident when she attempted to confront Geto in battle, going so far as to swear an oath that would compromise her swordsmanship, but still failed to leave any trace on her intended target.
1. Noritoshi Kamo
Plentiful Potential With No Pay Off

- First Appearance: Season 1, Episode 14
Noritoshi Kamo embodied the essential qualities of a potent jujutsu sorcerer, encompassing his intelligence, dexterity, and familiarity with Jujutsu Arts. His entrance in the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen portrayed him as an effective commander with a sharp mind, capable of rallying the quirky Kyoto branch students of Jujutsu High to collaborate in the elimination of Itadori Yuji. Nevertheless, as the narrative unfolded, Noritoshi failed to make a significant impact on the battlefield and seemed unable to match his peers’ performance. Whether it was due to insufficient experience or training, Noritoshi seemed to fall short of his true potential.
