As a die-hard fan of Jujutsu Kaisen who has followed the series from its very beginning, I must say that the way some of our beloved characters were handled towards the end was, to put it mildly, a bit disappointing.

Following six years since its serialization, Gege Akutami’s manga titled “Jujutsu Kaisen” has concluded at last. This acclaimed shōnen action series of recent times undeniably ranks among the greatest and most impactful in the genre. However, its conclusion sparked a range of opinions, both positive and negative, from fans and dedicated readers, due to several contentious factors.

Among the characters, a notable number experienced conclusions that fell short of expectations. Either their finale was lackluster or they suddenly vanished from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga during its closing chapters, making these characters some of the most disappointing instances of this unfortunate pattern.

10 Toge Inumaki

As a character initially intended to be a mainstay in Yuta’s class, I, Toge Inumaki, found myself in a slightly altered role when the series’ narrative started revolving around Itadori and his crew. However, my significance within the story never waned, primarily due to my distinctive cursed ability, Cursed Speech, which continued to play a pivotal part.

As the story progressed in this manga, I found myself feeling increasingly detached from Inumaki’s character. He went from being a central figure to almost vanishing from the narrative altogether. His most significant contribution came after he lost an arm during Sukuna’s rampage in Shibuya – he recorded himself saying “Don’t Move” for Yuta to use against the King of Curses in the climactic battle. Post-Sukuna’s defeat, Inumaki simply resumed his everyday life.

9 Panda

He Lost His Father And His Siblings. Now What?

There’s no denying that Panda is one of the most fascinating characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s a mutated cursed corpse created by Principal Yaga who holds three different cores within his body, each one of them with its own abilities. Coupled with his adorable design and charming personality, it’s clear why he was one of the original main characters of the series.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice the contrast between Inumaki and Panda post-Shibuya Incident. While Panda was present, his contribution seemed to fall short of expectations. The execution of his father by Jujutsu higher-ups was a significant event, yet it didn’t seem to deeply affect him or inspire action.

8 Uraume

Wait, Why Did They Even Follow Sukuna In The First Place?

First Appearance: Chapter 53 (Manga) Episode 21 (Anime)

In the series, Uraume, Sukuna’s trusted lieutenant, was not only Sukuna’s right-hand man but also one of the most potent sorcerers, owing largely to their unique ability called Ice Formation. This skill enabled them to manipulate icy cryokinetic powers at will. However, despite playing a crucial role as Sukuna’s second in command, Uraume was surprisingly underutilized during the climactic chapters of the story.

As a devoted fan, I was all geared up for an epic showdown between Kinji Hakari and me, but alas, most of that battle unfolded off-camera. Though Uraume made an appearance in the last chapter, departing to the afterlife together with Sukuna, it fell short of my expectations as their past and reasons remained largely unexplored.

7 Kinji Hakari

His Epic Final Battle Was Not Even Shown

At the outset of the manga, it was clear that Kinji Hakari was one of the most gifted and powerful sorcerers. Later, when this student who had been expelled returned to the storyline, he lived up to expectations by participating in some of the most astonishing and peculiar battles, largely due to his Domain Expansion themed around Pachinko.

During the decisive fight, Hakari played a pivotal part by isolating Sukuna from his underling, Uraume. This clandestine confrontation was quite disheartening for many readers, as they had anticipated witnessing his distinctive abilities on display once more. Regrettably, he didn’t get the chance to vanquish them, since Uraume took their own life following Sukuna’s demise. In the concluding chapter, it unexpectedly emerges that Hakari and Kirara will resume their education at Jujutsu Tech, which seemed a bit hurried in its unfolding.

6 Hajime Kashimo

Went From A Huge Threat To Fodder For Sukuna

Originally hailing from 400 years ago, Hajima Kashimo reincarnated and exhibited a formidable ability to manipulate electric cursed energy. Swiftly proving his immense power, he vanquished numerous participants of the Culling Game, even defeating Panda. Ultimately, Kashimo’s sole ambition was to engage in combat with Ryomen Sukuna himself.

In the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, Hakari managed to persuade Kashimo to join their side, leading to his immediate involvement against Sukuna. Utilizing his deadliest move, Mythical Beast Amber, Kashimo gave it his all, but alas, it was not enough to defeat the Curse King. Sukuna effortlessly disposed of him with ease, making for an underwhelming climax in their exchange about strength. The fact that Kashimo was essentially used as a pawn to demonstrate Sukuna’s power left quite a flat impression.

5 Miguel Oduol

Kenya’s Most Powerful Sorcerer Quietly Returned To His Home Country

First Appearance: Chapter 0-3 (Manga) Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (Anime)

Miguel Oduol’s character brought a captivating idea to Jujutsu Kaisen: the possibility that sorcerers exist in other nations who possess nearly equivalent power to Satoru Gojo and have significantly impacted their home societies. Regrettably, this intriguing concept didn’t receive extensive development before the manga concluded, and unfortunately, there was limited insight into Yuta’s African training.

During the final battle against Sukuna, Miguel demonstrated his remarkable powers. However, when the situation became challenging, he was abruptly taken away, reappearing later back in Kenya as if nothing had happened. It’s a pity we didn’t get to see more of how Miguel uses his sorcery skills in his homeland and how his Japanese experiences might have influenced him.

4 Yuki Tsukumo

The Strongest Female Sorcerer Was Unceremoniously Killed Off

First Appearance: Chapter 50 (Manga) Episode 20 (Anime)

For quite some time, viewers eagerly anticipated Yuki Tsukumo, the solitary high-ranking female sorcerer and mentor to Aoi Todo, to exhibit her full prowess. Eventually, she was given the opportunity in a fierce confrontation with Kenjaku. With her formidable abilities and flamboyant character, she had the potential to emerge as one of the most beloved characters within the series.

Regrettably, Yuki didn’t make it through her confrontation with one of the primary villains; she met a sudden end when Kenjaku unexpectedly employed a gravity-defying move. This was disheartening because, after all that anticipation over such a long period, Yuki’s swift demise diminished the resonance of her entire character.

3 Nobara Kugisaki

She Finally Reappeared When The Manga Only Had A Few Chapters Left

First Appearance: Chapter 3 (Manga) Episode 2 (Anime)

Gege Akutami’s portrayal of Nobara Kugisaki’s character was controversial. Although she initially appeared as the leading female figure in the series and demonstrated that she was a charming companion and powerful sorcerer, she exited the narrative following her deadly confrontation with Mahito during the Shibuya Incident.

Over the span of numerous years, I, along with countless other fans, found myself questioning whether Nobara’s character had truly met her end or not. The suspense was finally lifted when she made a comeback in Chapter 267, playing a pivotal role in Itadori’s battle against Sukuna by employing her Resonance technique. This moment was nothing short of epic, but the manga concluded merely four chapters later, with Nobara being conspicuously absent for most of its remaining run. In the end, she was reintroduced and returned to her everyday life, yet her narrative seemed incomplete – a resolution that feels elusive, even questioning if it ever truly existed in the first place.

2 Kenjaku

One Of The Main Antagonists Didn’t Even Get A Proper Send-Off

First Appearance: Chapter 10 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

In the storyline, the sinister sorcerer known as Kenjaku held a profound grudge against two principal characters: Satoru Gojo, due to him taking control of Gojo’s friend’s body and imprisoning him within the Realm of Incarceration; and Yuji Itadori, since Kenjaku took possession of the woman who would eventually become Itadori’s mother in order to craft an ideal host for Sukuna.

Although Gojo and Itadori never had the opportunity to confront Kenjaku due to their ongoing disagreements, he was unexpectedly slain by Yuta. His humorous final battle against Fumihiko Takaba was undeniably a standout moment in the series, but it’s regrettable that we didn’t learn much about Kenjaku following his decisive loss. Later on, Takaba is depicted working on a fresh comedy sketch with a man who bears a striking resemblance to Geto; this has left readers wondering if this character could possibly be Kenjaku in disguise.

1 Satoru Gojo

He Was Successfully Unsealed, Only To Die A Few Chapters Later

To this very moment, the demise of Satoru Gojo remains one of the most contentious and debated events within the realm of Jujutsu Kaisen. In essence, his death created a profound impact given his immense power, leaving a significant gap in Jujutsu society. If not for Gojo’s comrades, it could have paved the way for Sukuna to assert control.

In essence, the narrative flow was disrupted as Gojo, previously imprisoned by Kenjaku, was missing from the storyline for approximately 140 chapters. Contrastingly, Nobara managed to stay active throughout. Regrettably, Gojo met his end only a few instalments following his reappearance. The battle was thrilling, indeed ranking among the finest in the series, but Sukuna’s triumph seemed rather underwhelming and undeserved to many viewers.

Gojo significantly influenced Itadori, passing down his legacy, yet this wasn’t sufficient to satisfy the adoration for such a cherished figure. Indeed, Gojo was both captivating and intricate, making it truly disappointing that he was concluded in the manga with a rather unimpressive exit.
