As a long-time fanatic of Jujutsu Kaisen, I must say that the recent epilogue was nothing short of heartwarming and mind-blowing all at once! Having grown up with these characters, it’s fascinating to see where their lives have led them after the great war.
This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue.
Summary
- JJK dropped an epilogue with the final volume, showcasing future relationships of characters.
- Panda’s epilogue hints at Yuta and Maki ending up together with grandchildren.
- Rika is still involved in Yuta and Maki’s relationship, protecting their family legacy.
Fans of JJK are thrilled due to receiving an epilogue with the latest release of the series’ final volume. While the conclusion provided some satisfaction, it also left many unresolved issues, leading fans to express a desire for a less hurried ending.
Though the final chapter doesn’t resolve every problem in JJK’s conclusion, it definitely offers plenty of thrilling material for fans to enjoy. It sheds light on several character relationships that unfolded following the Shinjuku confrontation, giving us a peek into Nobara’s family reunion and its progression, as well as Yuji and Ozawa maintaining their friendship. Most notably, we catch glimpses of Yuta’s family life after the Shinjuku Showdown arc, with strong suggestions that he might have formed a bond with Maki since then.
Jujutsu Kaisen Continues With Its Epilogue
- JJK’s epilogue dropped with Volume 30
- Fans saw JJK characters once again after the ending
The concluding volume of JJK was an enormous treat, not just serving as the final piece in Gege Akutami’s grand masterpiece, but also offering a new, exciting epilogue chapter for readers. For those curious about what transpired several years down the line following the story’s end, this epilogue provides a delightful read. The news about JJK’s epilogue was shared during Jump Festa 2025. It was confirmed that the final volume would contain a 16-page epilogue, focusing on key characters like Nobara, Ozawa, Panda, and Uraume. Although fans initially weren’t sure how this epilogue would unfold, it has since been revealed that it will delve into their individual stories.
It appears challenging, on first glance, for an author to present multiple points of view within such a brief 16-page chapter. Yet, credit where it’s due, the author seems to have pulled it off admirably. Each of these compact sections could easily have been expanded into their own chapters, but fans are grateful that they receive some content before the series concludes for good.
Do you still like snow, Itadori-kun? – Ozawa
From my perspective as an observer, in the 272nd chapter of JJK, Ozawa’s epilogue unfolded, and there was a reunion with Yuji, whom she harbors affection for. The author’s intentions at this juncture remain unclear, but it seems likely that these characters might share a future together. For devoted fans, this prospect is undeniably thrilling, yet in the broader narrative context, Ozawa’s role appears minor. However, when Panda’s tale was introduced – set far ahead in time, where Yuta has even grandchildren – readers were taken aback, making it a more captivating aspect of the storyline.
Yuta’s And Maki Might Have Ended Up Together
Panda’s Epilogue Showed Yuta’s Grandchildren
Readers discover Yuta and Maki’s relationship from Panda’s concluding chapter. By the year 2035, Panda had reached its limit and ceased operation. The decaying body was kept in the Gojo Clan’s facility, under the supervision of Yuta who was serving as acting head at the time. Although fans anticipated a time jump in JJK at some point, they were not prepared for another time jump that took them to the year 2080.
Don’t mess with them. These are Grandpa’s treasures. – Yuta’s grandchildren
62 years post the Shinjuku Showdown arc’s end, an exciting revelation emerged for fans: Yuta, our cherished protagonist, has grandchildren! And oh, what a delight it was to see these miniature versions of both Maki and Yuta! The eldest seems to be a spitting image of Yuta, while the youngest, with her striking features, reminds me greatly of Maki, even echoing some traits of Megumi.
Without a doubt, the Zenin genes exhibit a distinctive brilliance, leaving no room for confusion or mistake.
Regrettably, neither Maki nor Yuta made an appearance, but it’s evident that Yuta had children with Maki, as can be seen in his grandchildren. Sadly, we didn’t get to learn about their children, but the sight of those adorable grandkids was a delight.
Audience members also enjoyed watching the young ones frolic about in a storage area, where they stumbled upon a Panda doll. At first, spectators assumed this was just an ordinary plush toy. However, it became apparent that the older sibling considered this to be not only a cursed body but also a cherished relic of Yuta. To everyone’s surprise, the corpse began to stir, revealing that on rare occasions, Panda can move and speak. The Panda doll then communicated with Yuta’s grandchildren, seemingly suggesting they bore little resemblance to him. This amusing episode served as a striking contrast, leaving viewers wishing for a glimpse of Yuta and Maki as well, which would have made the experience even more thrilling.
What Happened To Rika?
Rika Is Still Around In JJK After 62 Years
Without a doubt, whenever fans imagine potential romantic partners for Yuta, Rika often pops up. However, since Rika is a Cursed Spirit, it was understood that their relationship would not have a traditional ending. Interestingly, it seems that Rika might be connected to the blossoming relationship between Yuta and Maki. This theory arises from the fact that Yuta’s granddaughter wears his ring necklace, which was once used for protection by Yuta. Considering this necklace now seems to protect Yuta’s granddaughter, it appears that Rika’s necklace serves a similar purpose. This link becomes even stronger when you consider that the granddaughter bears a striking resemblance to Yuta himself.
Following the end of the war, it seems that Rika assumed the role of family guardian. Consequently, both the offspring of Yuta and Maki, as well as their subsequent generations, have been safeguarded under her care. While it’s speculative, there’s an intriguing possibility that Yuta and Maki’s child might be named Rika, but this is merely a guess on our part.
Still, it is absolutely incredible to see that Rika is still around and doing her job of protecting Yuta’s legacy. Hopefully, if JJK were to ever continue, fans would get a glimpse of an old Yuta, and with him, Maki as well.
Currently, this is all we as fans get regarding these characters, which is a pity because this section of the epilogue was merely two pages. If the author had delved deeper into a whole chapter about these characters, we might have witnessed Yuta and Maki in their later years, possibly even their offspring. However, for now, fans can only be content with what they’ve been given.
In Japan, the final installment of the manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen” will be released on December 25, 2024, marking the conclusion of its story. The English version of this concluding volume is expected to follow suit sometime in the year 2025.
