This article contains some spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the extraordinary masterpiece known as “Jujutsu Kaisen,” penned by the brilliant Gege Akutami. Recently, it dominated Shonen Jump’s sales charts during its final arc, demonstrating its immense popularity. The JJK series was on a roll until its bittersweet end in 2024.
Without a doubt, a series like “Jujutsu Kaisen,” boasting enormous popularity, is tough to rival. However, another Shonen Jump manga has left it far behind, and when their figures are compared, it’s not even close.
Jujutsu Kaisen is One of the Biggest Shonen Series

- The Manga Ended, But the Series is Still Very Popular
- The Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Is a Huge Hit
In recent years, Jujutsu Kaisen has undeniably stood out as one of the most notable series in Shonen Jump. Despite its relatively short length (approximately 270 chapters), it has rapidly accumulated an enormous following.
The manga series, Jujutsu Kaisen, had already garnered a significant following prior to its debut on television. However, it was the exceptional quality of its anime adaptation that significantly increased its popularity. This surge in popularity, brought about by the anime, propelled Jujutsu Kaisen to become one of the top-selling manga series, sometimes even outperforming One Piece.
As an ardent fan, I can’t contain my excitement as we approach the third season of the phenomenal JJK anime! With the manga wrapping up last year, the anime has become a beacon for fans like me who are eagerly waiting for new episodes. Despite Jujutsu Kaisen being synonymous with Shonen Jump, recent data shows that another series continues to outshine it in popularity.
Jujutsu Kaisen is Big, But Its Movie Success Is Nothing Compared To Demon Slayer

- The New Demon Slayer Movie Grossed 55 Million in 5 Days
- JJK Movie 0 Took 21 Days To Gross 55Million
It appears that while Jujutsu Kaisen has garnered significant attention, in terms of worldwide recognition, it doesn’t quite measure up to the Demon Slayer franchise.
The fame of the “Demon Slayer” series outshone all predictions. Its anime version became incredibly popular, while its films garnered even greater success.
In the initial run, the first Demon Slayer movie, titled Mugen Train, shattered every record at the Japanese box office. More recently, its latest release, Akaza’s Return, has once again surpassed its previous records.
In a comparison between the box office performance of Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, it’s clear that Demon Slayer is outpacing its rival significantly. Within just five days, Demon Slayer earned over $55 million, while Jujutsu Kaisen took 21 days to reach the same figure. Furthermore, when it comes to manga sales, Demon Slayer, with only 23 volumes, has more than double the sales of Jujutsu Kaisen, which currently stands at 31 volumes. Although Jujutsu Kaisen may see a surge in sales with new seasons, Demon Slayer is expected to experience similar boosts with its upcoming movies. In essence, Demon Slayer has established a substantial lead over Jujutsu Kaisen in both box office and manga sales.
The Next Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Could Come Close To Demon Slayer
A Gojo vs Sukuna Movie Would be Huge

In the realm of anime movies, it’s unlikely that Demon Slayer will be outdone in the near future. However, should a Jujutsu Kaisen movie materialize, it might give Demon Slayer a run for its money. The confrontation between Gojo and Sukuna is undeniably one of the wildest shonen battles ever seen, and if the studio decides to bring this epic battle to the big screen, box office records could be shattered.
As a bystander, I can confidently say that the captivating world of Jujutsu Kaisen holds immense promise. With the right chances, it could undeniably outshine even its initial film adaptation.
Regardless of the choice, it’s undeniable that both shows have made a significant impact on Shonen Jump. The conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen has certainly created a void that remains unfilled at this point.
Where To Watch and Read Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer?
Both are Available on Crunchyroll and Manga Plus

The Demon Slayer manga ended as far back as 2020. Compared to many other stories, it’s relatively brief, encompassing just 205 chapters. If you’re a fan of the series and don’t wish to wait for the films, you can explore the manga on Manga Plus. As for the anime, it consists of four seasons, which are all accessible on Crunchyroll.
Right now, I’m absolutely hooked on “Jujutsu Kaisen” streaming over on Crunchyroll! With two seasons under my belt and a whopping 47 episodes in total, it’s been an exhilarating ride so far. And guess what? A third season is coming, which has fans like me buzzing with anticipation! If you haven’t read the manga yet, don’t worry – you can find it on Manga Plus and catch up before the new season drops. This series is a must for any anime enthusiast!
