This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 266.
Just released, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 266 has sparked enthusiasm among fans as the series edges closer to its grand finale. With the storyline set to reach an exhilarating peak soon, it seems we’re in for a thrilling ride before the year comes to a close. However, the battle between Sukuna and Yuji remains ongoing, and this week’s installment brought some intriguing twists to the fight.
Readers finally caught a glimpse of Megumi returning in this chapter, albeit not fully. As the story unfolds, anticipation grows for the further development of Megumi’s character, leaving fans eagerly waiting to uncover what lies ahead.
How Sukuna Destroyed Megumi’s Willpower
Sukuna Killed Nearly Everyone Dear To Megumi
Sukuna destroyed Megumi’s willpower quite early on in the Culling Game Arc. After switching with Megumi, he knew that the body was easier to control than that of Yuji. Sukuna was still facing a fightback from Megumi, which is why he took the soul bath and essentially suppressed his soul forever. The deaths of Tsumiki further traumatized Megumi and made him lose his willpower. At that point, Megumi had nothing to fight for, and he simply succumbed to the king of curses. Ever since then, the sorcerers have been trying their best to get Megumi back, and it has become one of the most important plot points in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Fans have absolutely loved every development in the rescue of Megumi, from the fight Between Gojo and Sukuna, which excited them to no end, and remains to be the best clash in the entire series, to Yuji’s plea for a friend to return. Everything was packed with excitement from top to bottom, and fans were delighted that the author took such an exciting approach in regards to Megumi.
The one who took the brunt of the adaptation was Megumi Fushiguro’s soul! – Sukuna
Of course, there were downsides to this approach as well. The fact that Megumi was cut out of the story for a significant part meant that his growth was hampered significantly. Furthermore, the progression of his character Arc was also scuttled to a certain degree, and while it would have been fine if JJK continued for longer and this wasn’t the last arc, the fact that the series is wrapping up in a few chapters simply means that Megumi is most likely going to get enough time to grow further as a character, and that’s certainly is the downside of this approach.
Megumi’s Awakening in Jujutsu Kaisen
Megumi Fushiguro Fought Back Against Sukuna Recently
In Chapter 266 of “JJK”, viewers will get to witness Megumi Fushiguro awakening a truth that many fans had anticipated. Yuji’s persistent efforts throughout the storyline to bring out Megumi’s potential were no secret, as he was determined to save his friend at all costs. Despite previous attempts that ended in failure, Yuji continues to fight against Sukuna with this objective in mind. Even within Yuta’s domain, Yuji came close to saving Megumi, but the latter declined his assistance. This left Yuji powerless to intervene any further.
Currently, things have changed. Yuji now has the ability to deliver strong blows against Sukuna’s spirit. The Soul Dismantle was incredibly severe, although it didn’t leave any physical scars, its impact on Sukuna’s soul was clear. It diminished Sukuna’s authority over Megumi’s soul, enabling Megumi to regain consciousness. He even displayed three fingers, but later, he had to reabsorb them again to preserve control.
It will be lonely without you, Fushiguro! – Yuji
Despite the undeniable fact that Megumi’s subjugation by him is gradually fading, and this very reason is what has prompted Megumi to resist now. In chapter 266 of JJK, Yuji held a conversation with Megumi. During their discussion, he made it clear to Megumi that he couldn’t ask him to continue living because he recognized the damaging effects of trauma. Nevertheless, all he can express is that life will feel lonely without him. Paraphrased in a more conversational and easy-to-understand manner.
After listening to those words, Megumi resolved to stand up and resist, for he values a genuine friend deeply and sees now that the future may not be as dismal as he had assumed. Megumi believes the world can still be improved upon, so he’s determined to take action. This resolve led Megumi to fiercely counterattack Sukuna, which in turn gave Yuji an opportunity to deliver a strong hit on him. However, it’s important to note that the battle with Sukuna is far from over, and Yuji will undoubtedly require Megumi’s assistance if he hopes to vanquish the curse king permanently. Here’s hoping that Megumi can offer all the aid Yuji needs, and soon.
How Yuji and Megumi Will Defeat Sukuna
Yuji And Megumi Will Combine Vs Sukuna Soon
It’s highly probable that Yuji and Megumi will join forces to confront Sukuna in the upcoming installments. Interestingly, Sukuna can no longer use the 10 Shadows Technique, and Mahoraga has been defeated. However, chapter 266 of JJK hinted that Megumi indeed possesses the 10 Shadows Technique. In their recent encounter, Yuji managed to make Sukuna’s leg sink with his shadow, allowing him to deliver a series of strong blows. Moreover, Yuji compelled Sukuna to replenish his exhausted cursed technique and reopen his domain, which undeniably adds to the challenges for the King of Curses.
Essentially, the more often Yuji attacks Sukuna, the less control Sukuna has over Megumi. Over time, this could lead to Megumi regaining his independence and preparing for a counterattack. However, it’s worth noting that Sukuna might choose to merge with Megumi if he feels he’s losing. In such a case, he may split from Megumi, transforming into a new, formidable enemy. At this point, it will be on Yuji and Megumi to confront and overcome this terrifying menace.
Absolutely, it won’t be an easy feat, but it’s crucial that Megumi and Yuji share the spotlight in the final act of JJK before the series concludes. With the series now officially at its climax, fans are certain that these characters should receive as much focus as possible.
Fans merely have to be patient and anticipate the upcoming chapters of JJK over the next weeks and months, crossing their fingers that the narrative provides a fitting finale for the principal characters. It’s expected that Jujutsu Kaisen will come to an end soon, leaving fans with the hope that the conclusion meets expectations.
