Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Has Officially Teased Ending Date After 5 Months

This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

The incredibly popular manga series Jujutsu Kaisen was a huge success for Weekly Shonen Jump, and its ending in 2024 noticeably impacted the magazine’s readership. Thankfully, the original creator, Gege Akutami, returned with a sequel called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. This new story is set in the future and features a completely new group of characters, but fans have embraced it nonetheless. Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has been very successful, but it’s nearing its end. Weekly Shonen Jump has suggested the story will conclude soon, possibly within the next few weeks.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Began On September 8, 2025

Gege Hinted At A 3 Volume Long Run

I started reading Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo when it launched in Weekly Shonen Jump on September 8, 2025 – just about a year after the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga finished. It quickly became clear this new series was a hit! The first volume, released in January 2026, was a bestseller that month. It’s not surprising, really, considering it’s a sequel set 68 years after the incredibly popular original series, which took the world by storm. It had a lot to live up to, and it seems to be doing very well.

Right from the start, the creator of the manga, Gege Akutami, shared a note about how long it would likely last, giving fans an idea of what to expect. He estimated that the series, Modulo, would be around three volumes long, which would translate to roughly six months of new chapters released weekly.

Modulo started as a wild idea, but it developed into a fully realized project through discussions and brainstorming sessions. These sessions involved exploring various possibilities, such as expanding on the core narrative, improving the story’s setting, altering the timeline, or even creating a separate, related storyline.

It’s a brief and focused series of installments. We’re anticipating around six months of production, though that’s subject to change.

About three volumes worth.

The artwork is by the incredibly talented Iwasaki Yuuji! It’s absolutely beautiful and amazing!

I hope everyone can enjoy Modulo as a new sort of introduction to Jujutsu!” — Gege Akutami

It was understandable that fans were upset when they heard the news. When the sequel was first announced, a lot of people hoped it would be a full-length manga, just like the original Jujutsu Kaisen. Even after Gege Akutami hinted at a shorter run, many of us still held out hope for more chapters. But looking at how the story is moving and the current events, it seems like Gege’s prediction was accurate. The latest announcement in Jump really suggests that JJK Modulo will be ending soon, and honestly, it’s a letdown.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Could Be Ending In The Next 3 Chapters

Three Weekly Shonen Jump Cover Pages Announced Back to Back

Jujutsu Kaisen is currently incredibly exciting. The fight between Dabura and Yuka Okkotsu has started, and Tsurugi Okkotsu recently finished his battle with Maru. It looks like Dabura will soon defeat Mahoraga. Plus, the author, Gege, just introduced a huge twist: Yuji and Maru might eliminate all cursed energy, fundamentally changing the Jujutsu Kaisen world. This suggests the story is heading towards its ending, and many fans expected at least ten more chapters. However, a recent announcement in Weekly Shonen Jump indicates the sequel might conclude sooner than anticipated.

Weekly Shonen Jump has announced that Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo will have a full-color cover for three consecutive issues (13, 14, and 15). This is an extremely rare honor, as it’s almost unheard of for a series to receive three color pages in a row. Many fans believe this special treatment signals the end of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen, and the manga might conclude with issue 15. Giving the series so much attention would fit with a planned three-chapter ending. However, this is just speculation, and the magazine hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Could Still Have More in Store For Fans

Recent Jump magazine covers have led some fans to believe Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo might end in the next three weeks. However, Jump suggests this could simply be a result of the series’ immense popularity. If that’s true, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo could continue for a few more chapters before concluding.

The latest arc of JJK Modulo centers on Yuji and Maru’s attempt to eliminate cursed energy – a goal first introduced by Yuki in the original Jujutsu Kaisen. This idea was later dropped, but the author, Gege, is revisiting it now. While Yuji and Maru might succeed, their plan could also fail spectacularly, potentially leading to a disaster similar to the Merger.

Gege Akutami has a lot of options for where to take the story next. The current arc in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is flexible enough to wrap up in just a few chapters, or it could be expanded for a longer and potentially even more impactful conclusion.

Even after Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo finishes, there’s a good chance the story will continue in another sequel. There’s a significant 68-year gap between the original Jujutsu Kaisen and Modulo, and fans are hoping creator Gege Akutami will explore that period in a new manga. Many are eager to see the original characters at the height of their powers. Plus, Akutami is a very successful creator, so the magazine is unlikely to let him go. It’s almost certain he’ll return to create the next big Shonen Manga for Jump, as his talent is invaluable.
