This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga.
After the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen, many fans wondered if another sorcerer as strong as Gojo Satoru, Ryomen Sukuna, or Yuji Itadori would ever appear. Surprisingly, Gege Akutami quickly continued the story with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, introducing a new generation of powerful sorcerers with unique and unexpected abilities.
A new character, a sorcerer at Grade 1 level, recently appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Fans immediately noticed their incredible power and unique abilities, which strongly resemble the iconic Stands from the anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Introduces Masaki Takeda as a New Grade 1 Sorcerer
Masaki Takeda Fought Yuji Itadori in the Past
- Masaki Takeda’s skills are on par with a Grade 1 level sorcerer, according to Tsurugi.
- Masaki Takeda escaped from Yuji Itadori to survive.
Masaki Takeda, who also goes by Masayoshi, is the latest sorcerer to reach Grade 1 in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. He appears young and fragile, but this hides the fact that he’s a clever and cruel old curse user strong enough to defeat the three main characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Based on how old Masaki looks, he probably grew up around the same time as the original characters in the show. And it turns out Masaki actually met Yuji Itadori before! Although we don’t know all the details of their encounter, the fact that he only ever had to run for his life during that one meeting shows that Masaki is an incredibly powerful sorcerer.
Masaki was incredibly talented, potentially rivaling even the strongest sorcerers. He could have been a valuable member of the jujutsu world, but as he aged, he lost his compassion and became a cruel and frightening curse user, known for his harsh and powerful methods.
Masaki Takeda Uses Shikigami in Battle
Masaki Takeda Overpowers Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu
Fans were surprised to see that Masaki Takeda’s spirit companion, or shikigami, resembles a character with special powers from the series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, boasting a distinctive design and powerful, elegant attacks. The name of his special technique, Maternal Wraith’s Fury: Marmalade Boy, further highlights the strong connection between Masaki and his shikigami, letting him dominate opponents and control the flow of battle.
Masaki, along with his powerful Guardian Spirit, simultaneously defeats both Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu. He uses his incredible ability to transform and the Spirit’s attacks to create seamless, devastating combos – it’s as if the needles are an extension of his own control. Beyond his power, Masaki is also a clever strategist, able to outthink his opponents.
You know, something Takeda-sensei said really stuck with me. He told me that saving someone doesn’t feel all that different from… well, from taking a life. It’s a tough thing to wrap your head around, but it really hit me – it’s like, the emotional impact just isn’t the same. It doesn’t stir up the feelings you’d expect, and honestly, it’s a bit unsettling to think about.
Masaki was likely winning against Yuka and Tsurugi until an unconscious Maru unexpectedly got involved. Facing a strong alien with a cursed technique as powerful as his own—and a frightening presence similar to Yuji Itadori’s—proved too challenging for Masaki, especially because he had trouble controlling his Guardian Spirit while dealing with Maru. Despite all this, it was remarkable that Masaki managed to withstand Maru’s combined attacks and ultimately escape.
Masaki Takeda Is Weaker Than Most Grade 1 Sorcerers
Masaki Takeda Is Grade 1, But Senile
The sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo aren’t as powerful as those in the original series, and Masaki Takeda is a good example of this. While Masaki is strong and dangerous, his cursed energy and power don’t quite match the skill and versatility of previous grade 1 sorcerers like Nanami Kento, Aoi Todo, Mei Mei, and Masamichi Yaga – at least not yet.
Masaki Takeda is aging and showing signs of mental decline, which could make it harder for him to fully control his Shikigami during tough battles – we saw this happen when Maru easily defeated him using his cursed technique. Some fans think Masaki might even have dementia, explaining his unpredictable actions and moments of confusion while fighting the Okkotsu siblings. Despite these issues, Masaki is still more powerful than Yuka and Tsurugi, maintaining his position as a top-level, Grade 1 sorcerer.
