Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuta and Maki’s Ending, Explained

They work incredibly well together, and their connection is clear. Although Jujutsu Kaisen didn’t show them becoming a couple, the fact that they survived the dangerous battles against Sukuna together was a meaningful reward for their partnership.

The recently released sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, unexpectedly confirmed a romantic relationship between Yuta and Maki, which thrilled fans who hoped they would get together. However, the author then shocked readers by killing both characters in the very first chapter, seemingly as a way to deny them a happy ending.

Yuta especially pushed himself to the limit, even using Gojo Satoru’s body in a desperate attempt to keep fighting. The fact that they both made it out alive feels like a miracle, and seeing them find happiness together at the end of the series was a lovely surprise.

The recent JJK Modulo Chapter 1 revealed that Yuta and Maki ended up married, and lived long lives together. Even though they have very different personalities – Maki is fiery and Yuta is calm – their relationship developed as many fans hoped. It would have been great to see the story of their romance unfold, perhaps in an extra chapter bridging the original series and JJK Modulo.

Gege still has the opportunity to share more about Yuta and Maki’s life as a family. We know they built a life together and had grandchildren, Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, but details about their child, Iori Okkotsu, remain unclear. Yuka now wields the Ten Shadows technique, and Tsurugi fights alongside Rika, as Yuta wished. These enhancements have made Yuka and Tsurugi two of the strongest young sorcerers in JJK Modulo.

Iori Okkotsu is a new character in the JJK Modulo fan work, and is the son of Yuta and Maki. Although he’s the father of Yuka and Tsurugi, details about Iori himself are currently limited.

Similar to Yuji Itadori, Iori’s location is a mystery, and it’s unclear why he hasn’t joined the fight, even though his children are now forced to battle Dabura and Maru.

The connection between Iori, Yuta, and Maki remains unclear. While Iori looks similar to Yuta, he doesn’t possess the same level of strength or ability.
