After weeks of whispers and anticipation, Nintendo has officially announced its upcoming Nintendo Direct in July 2025, though fans may find it disheartening to learn that this event will be a Partner Showcase rather than the anticipated full-fledged presentation. Trusted sources and leakers have consistently suggested that Nintendo would hold a Nintendo Direct before the year 2025 was over, and their recent announcement seems to validate these claims.
Fans had expected a Nintendo Direct to occur relatively soon given the circumstances, considering that Nintendo skipped their regular June 2025 Direct due to its alignment with the release of the Switch 2 console, implying that it was long overdue for an update. Now, we learn that a Nintendo Direct is scheduled, but instead of a traditional Direct showcasing first-party Nintendo games, it will be a Partner Showcase focusing on third-party collaborations.
On July 31st, Nintendo has scheduled a Partner Showcase for their Nintendo Direct event, starting at 6am Pacific Time. This event will provide approximately 25 minutes of information about games coming out for the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, from our collaborating partners. In other words, during this July 2025 Nintendo Direct, spectators might catch some intriguing third-party announcements for both the current Nintendo Switch and the forthcoming model, but it’s important to note that updates on games like “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” are still not confirmed, as its release date remains uncertain.
When is the July 2025 Nintendo Direct?
- Thursday, July 31 at 6am PT
Although some Nintendo enthusiasts may be thrilled with the Partner Showcase, there will undoubtedly be others who feel let down as we won’t be receiving a Nintendo Direct to conclude August. Once Drag x Drive comes out on August 14th, the flow of Switch 2 exclusives is likely to slow significantly. We are aware that Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are both anticipated to drop this year, but we don’t have specific release dates for either title as yet.
The upcoming game titled “Splatoon Raiders” for Switch 2, which is speculated to hit the shelves by year-end, doesn’t yet have a specific release date. A recent leak about Splatoon Raiders had sparked excitement among fans, suggesting that it might debut during the July 2025 Nintendo Direct event. However, given that the event is primarily for partners, it’s not very likely that we’ll see Splatoon Raiders there.
It’s looking hopeful that Nintendo might hold another Nintendo Direct around September; they have a number of upcoming releases for the fall season and so far only “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” has a confirmed release date. Titles such as “Kirby Air Riders”, “Splatoon Raiders”, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment”, and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” are yet to announce their release dates. Additionally, Nintendo may want to begin hinting at what the Switch 2 might offer in 2026, if they aim to maintain the strong sales momentum for the new console.
