Kai Cenat Explains Absence from Twitch

Kai Cenat, a well-known online creator, has been working on his new clothing line during his break from Twitch. He explained that he needed time to prioritize his mental health after his Mafiathon 3 event in September 2025, and shared that he’d been struggling with feelings of self-doubt and feeling like a fraud for a while.

Kai Cenat began creating online content with vlogs on YouTube before starting to livestream on Twitch in 2021. He quickly became known for playing a variety of games, including the Batman: Arkham series and challenging titles like Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Most recently, as of late 2025, Cenat hosted Mafiathon 3, a month-long livestream event featuring guests like LeBron James and Mariah Carey. During Mafiathon 3, Cenat pledged to donate 15% of the revenue earned from new subscribers to fund the construction of a school in Nigeria.

Kai Cenat Has Stayed Busy During His Twitch Hiatus

Even though Kai Cenat has taken a break from his usual social media content, he’s been far from idle. On January 13th, he announced in a YouTube video that he was focusing all his energy on launching a clothing brand called Vivet. The idea for Vivet came after a trip to Italy where Cenat even learned how to sew. He’d previously shared that he’d been struggling with self-doubt for months, which held him back from pursuing things he really wanted to do. Cenat explained that taking a break from Twitch and livestreaming has been beneficial for his mental health, allowing him to recharge and rethink his schedule. He’s also been sharing more personal content, like workouts and book reviews, on his YouTube channel, Kai’s Mind.

In a recent video, Kai Cenat explained that taking a break from Twitch allowed him to focus on developing his interest in fashion. He also broke the record for the most Twitch subscribers ever, surpassing 1.1 million during his latest broadcast, Mafiathon 3. He previously set a record at Mafiathon 2 in 2024, gaining over 320,000 subscribers. While his current subscriber count is around 46,000, Cenat still has strong support from his 20.2 million followers. This puts him at number six among Twitch’s most subscribed channels, behind Vedal987, who currently holds the top spot with 343,215 subscribers.

Twitch Has Also Change in Kai Cenat’s Absence

Things have been pretty wild on Twitch since Kai Cenat took a break. They actually tried out a feature where you could gift a whopping 1,000 subscriptions to your favorite streamer at once, but a lot of creators got upset because it meant people were spending serious money in one go. So, Twitch quickly changed it back to the old limit of 100 gifted subs. On top of that, they also tweaked how they count views on Clips. Twitch said this might show slightly lower numbers overall, but it’ll give us creators a much clearer idea of what content our audience is really enjoying.

Kai Cenat hasn’t announced when he’ll be back on Twitch or streaming again. He did hint during Mafiathon 3 that Streamer University might return in 2026, even though he previously said he was done with it. It remains to be seen when fans will be able to watch him live on Twitch again.
