As a long-time fan of Kaiju No. 8, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement about the potential return of General Isao Shinomiya. Having followed this series for over two dozen chapters, I’ve come to admire Shinomiya’s strength, intelligence, and unwavering determination. His story is one that resonates deeply with me, as someone who values resilience and perseverance in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
This article may have spoilers from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 112.
Readers of Chapter 112 in Kaiju No. 8 are left guessing about the outcome of the fight against Kaiju No. 9 due to a nail-biting cliffhanger ending. The resolution of this battle might not be revealed until two weeks from now, when Chapter 113 is published. This manga releases new chapters every fortnight and offers some of the most thrilling action scenes in contemporary manga. Thanks to Mina Ashiro’s clever opening move as the Third Division Captain of the Defense Force, Kafka now has a chance to obliterate Kaiju No. 9’s core and potentially end the battle. However, it remains unclear whether this decisive strike was enough to finish him off.
The struggle between Kafka and Mina against Kaiju No. 9 has had its fair share of highs and lows, with the fight seemingly nearing its conclusion on numerous occasions. However, despite their tireless efforts, Kaiju No. 9 proves to be an unusually intelligent creature that the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force has never encountered before. Its ability to adapt to any combat style catches its opponents off guard. Moreover, this beast can regenerate and conceal its core when exposed, making it incredibly challenging to strike swiftly before it disappears. Fortunately, the Defense Force was able to locate the core’s position following Mina’s blast, which provided Kafka with his best opportunity to destroy it.
The Destruction Of Kaiju No. 8’s Core
Was The Defense Force’s Final Plan Successful?
In the heat of battle against Kaiju No. 9, I unleashed my Anti-Giant-Class Kaiju Rail Gun, doing everything in my power to aid Kafka Hibino as he aimed for a game-changing strike. To our surprise, something within the beast itself lent a hand, allowing Kafka to tap into his Neo God of Thunder attack. He made a beeline straight for the core and connected with a thunderous boom! It seemed like the frontal cortex had shattered, causing sparks to fly and an earth-shattering echo behind Kaiju No. 9. As readers waited with bated breath, the chapter concluded abruptly, leaving us all hanging on one of the most nerve-wracking cliffhangers in the entire manga series!
In the time I resist your attacks, I’ll be able to regenerate again. – Kaiju No. 9
In the moments before the attack, Kaiju No. 9 made comments about human tenacity and their capacity to maintain hope even in dark times. As Kafka prepared for battle, Kaiju No. 9 observed that his adversaries were exceeding his expectations – a fact he hadn’t openly shared with either Kafka or Mina. Despite his desire to rule the world and bring about a new age of kaiju supremacy, Kaiju No. 9 seemed to be enjoying his clash with Mina and Kafka, much like Third Division Vice-Captain Shoshoro Hoshina did when he faced off against Kaiju No. 10.
Despite appearing injured, exhausted, and at a critical juncture in their battle against Kaiju No. 9, it remains undecided whether Kafka and Mina managed to obliterate the monster’s core, concluding the struggle. Throughout the past two dozen chapters, readers have learned that things aren’t always as they seem when Kaiju No. 9 is on the defensive. This cunning monster often saves his best moves for last, deceiving his adversaries on numerous occasions – such as during his battles against Reno Ichikawa and Iharu Furuhashi. If by some miracle he has miraculously survived the Defense Force’s final attack, Kaiju No. 9 will undoubtedly counter any future strategy and launch a new assault on Kafka and Mina.
The one hope that Kafka and Mina can hang onto is that the core does in fact look to be shattered. It has yet to be seen where any type of kaiju or honju survives its core’s destruction, and Kaiju No. 9 still suffers from this same weakness as the rest of his comrades. Bringing an end to Kaiju No. 9 may also be what the Defense Force needs to repel the rest of the kaiju threats surrounding the city, which would ultimately bring an end to the conflict. The plan of Kaiju No. 9 began all the way back in Chapter 97, when Hoshina had appeared to defeat Kaiju No. 10 before the reveal was made that the initial battle was a ploy to set up a larger attack on the city.
The Potential Return Of General Isao Shinomiya
How His Survival Can Give The Defense Force Its Biggest Morale Boost
In this story, General Isao Shinomiya was known as the mightiest member of the Defense Force, wielding the deadliest weapon from the Numbers. However, it was a tragic day when Kaiju No. 9 overpowered him, incorporating Shinomiya into its own form, marking his unfortunate demise. For many chapters, people thought that Shinomiya had met an untimely end, swallowed by Kaiju No. 9, with his power and wisdom being consumed as sustenance for the monster, empowering it to defeat the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. Kikoru, his daughter, vowed revenge on behalf of her father’s death and gained the strength to confront a threat equal to a kaiju single-handedly, giving her the courage to pursue her father’s killer.
Initially, it seemed like Shinomiya was in a hopeless state, trapped inside Kaiju No. 9. However, after enduring countless hours within its monstrous form, there appears to be some semblance of life left in Shinomiya. During the fierce confrontation between Kaiju No. 9 and Mina & Kafka, Shinomiya managed to break free from Kaiju No. 9’s control and refused to use the power of Kaiju No. 2, forcing it into a defensive position. The comic panels suggest that Shinomiya still retains his conscience and willpower, defying Kaiju No. 9 and even delaying its regeneration. If this is indeed the case, there’s a strong possibility that Shinomiya might be alive. Therefore, if he survives the final battle against Kaiju No. 9, there could be hope for his rescue.
How… is he still exerting so much power? – Kaiju No. 9
In Kaiju No. 9 Chapter 99, Mina was absorbed by Kaiju No. 9, which led to the audience getting an in-depth look into what it meant to be swallowed by a kaiju. Inside Kaiju No. 9, Mina reverted to her childlike form, faced with her insecurities and familiar faces encouraging her to give up and allow herself to be taken over. In this such case, it was Mina’s sheer willpower and some encouraging words from her childhood friend that snapped her out of the trance and gave her the resiliency to fight back and hold out long enough for Kafka to make the save. The same may then be said for General Shinomiya, who certainly has more willpower than any living human, and the stubbornness to not die.
In my gaming world, taking down Kaiju No. 9 would not only be the ultimate victory against the most formidable enemy we’ve ever faced, but also the chance to bring back our fearless leader, General Shinomiya. His return would not only rejuvenate our forces but also give us a heartwarming reunion with Kikoru, his daughter. Plus, the boost in morale and mental fortitude that his presence would bring is immeasurable. The final battle will either be the start of more victories or a bittersweet moment that may leave many teary-eyed.
