Kaiju No. 8 The Game Shows Off Animation in New Cutscenes [EXCLUSIVE]

Exclusively for you, Game Rant unveils three thrilling cinematics from the upcoming game titled “Kaiju No. 8: The Video Game“. A sneak peek at this exciting title comes a day before its mobile debut, while it’s also being developed for PC platforms as well.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been following an extraordinary journey titled “Kaiju No. 8” (or “Monster #8” in English). Originally a Japanese manga series penned by the talented Naoya Matsumoto, it was later transformed into an anime. This epic tale unfolded over five years on Shonen Jump+, concluding in July 2024, and is also available in English on Manga Plus and through Viz Media.

The narrative revolves around me, or rather Kafka Hibino – a character who acquires the extraordinary ability to transform into a colossal creature known as kaiju. Using this power, he bravely takes on other kaiju. With an acclaimed anime adaptation under its belt and over 18 million manga copies in circulation worldwide, it’s no surprise that the series was greenlit for a video game adaptation, simply titled “Kaiju No. 8 The Game”, announced in June 2024. I can hardly contain my excitement for this new chapter in the Kaiju No. 8 universe!

Kaiju No 8. The Game Reveals 3 New Cutscenes

Just before its release, Japanese developer Akatsuki Games unveiled some fresh footage from their upcoming title, and Game Rant has been given exclusive access to these previously undisclosed materials. These materials consist of three scenes, one of which sets up a clash between Kaiju No. 8’s Mina Ashiro and a colossal Kaiju standing at around 200 feet tall. In this clip, we also catch a glimpse of Yohohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, reduced to rubble in the game. Although not shown in the video, it has been confirmed that Mina’s tiger companion, Bakko, will feature in the upcoming game.

In a freshly unveiled sequence from the latest cutscenes, Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina of the Third Division encounters Kafka Hibino’s Kaiju form. This scene highlights several combat skills that fans of Kaiju No. 8 will recognize, portraying Hoshina as a swift and cunning fighter. Additionally, it hints at the game’s commitment to staying true to its source material. Furthermore, the clip showcases some visually stunning animations that are promised in Kaiju No. 8 The Game.

In the third segment, you’ll find Hibino engaged in a battle with Isao Shinomiya, who holds the position of Defense Force Director General. These two characters, along with Mina, Hoshina, Gen Narumi, Kikoru Shinomiya, and Reno Ichikawa, will make up the playable character lineup for the game called “Kaiju No 8. The Game“.

The game based on the anime series Kaiju No. 8 is set to be released this upcoming Sunday, August 31. It will be available for download simultaneously on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Not only that, but the free-to-play version of this popular sci-fi anime adaptation is also planned for PC release. Its page on Steam indicates it’s coming soon, with specific details about availability to be revealed in the following months.
