As someone who has dedicated my life to the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force, I can truly appreciate the unique skills and experiences each member brings to the table. Mina Ashiro, with her tactical mind and ability to take down powerful Kaijus with just a few rounds, is a true asset to our team. Her conservation of ammunition in the face of multiple threats shows not only her strategic prowess but also her selflessness, ensuring that we have enough resources to protect as many people as possible.

In the world of “Kaiju No.,” there are two distinct groups of people: those who flee from the monstrous demons that roam the earth and those who brave the danger to protect them. Individuals with sufficient abilities and strength have the opportunity to join the Kaiju Defense Force, with the ultimate goal of being promoted to an officer. Fresh recruits are subsequently assigned to a division based on which captain or vice captain is drawn to their qualifications. The manga “Kaiju No. 8” tells the tale of Kafka Hibino, a character who aspires to become part of the Kaiju Defense Force and eventually earns a position as a Cadet within the Third Division.

At that point, the Third Division comes into focus and presents a new set of characters to the viewers. Among them are Mina Ashiro, the division’s captain, and her second-in-command, Soshiro Hoshina. Additionally, there are numerous other officers who secured positions with the division following their successful applications. Although they don’t have Kaiju powers like Kafka, these officers possess formidable combat abilities within their suits, with Mina being the strongest at 96%. Their mission is to defend the country against relentless Kaiju attacks; however, the role itself is far from easy.

The Important Yet Dangerous Job That They Do

As a fan, I’d describe it this way: The Anti-Kaiju Defense Force’s primary goal is to neutralize any Kaiju menace while causing the least harm possible to the city and its people. To accomplish this, we meticulously strategize and evaluate each situation before engaging in battle. Kafka Hibino’s strength lies not in his physical power but in his unique understanding of Kaijus’ vulnerabilities. By identifying and targeting their cores, we can streamline the fight and save valuable resources, making our mission more effective for all involved.

Captaining a team against formidable foes like Honju and Daikaiju is usually the responsibility of Mina Ashiro and her vice captain, Soshiro Hoshina. Their abilities perfectly complement each other: Mina effectively eliminates larger Kaijus from a distance, while Soshiro excels in close combat with medium-sized Kaijus. Following the defeat of formidable Kaijus, the team’s next objective is to securely gather valuable Kaiju materials for the creation of weapons and ammunition. While all officers are equipped with standard firepower infused with Kaiju DNA, elite officers, including captains, receive specialized weapons designed according to their unique strengths.

Mina depends on a massive sniper rifle, channeling 96% of her combat strength into potent, devastating bullets capable of eliminating colossal Kaijus. In the debut mission for the Third Division’s new soldiers, it was Mina who single-handedly eliminated the primary objective, using numerous shots from her sniper rifle, allowing officers to manage the remaining Yoju. Soshiro excels with his edged weapons infused with Kaiju remnants and can temporarily amplify his power significantly for a brief period. Kikoru Shinomiya is the unique officer below the rank of senior troops, equipped with an axe-like weapon to dispatch her targets efficiently.

Exploring The Third Division And Its Members

The Best Division In The Anti-Kaiju Defense Force

At present, the Third Division comprises 18 individuals. This group includes one Captain, one Vice Captain, five experienced combat leaders called Platoon Leaders, eight officers, and three members categorized as “Others.” Although officers rank above most members, platoon leaders, distinguished by their superior battlefield expertise and greater combat strength, occupy a position between the captain and officers within the division’s hierarchy.

I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly exceptional individuals during my time as a military officer. Among them are Haruichi Izumo, Aoi Kaguragi, Akari Minase, Hakua Igarashi, Toma Takanashi, and three unnamed comrades. Each one of them brings unique strengths and perspectives to our team.

Other Members: Konomi Okonogi (Operations Leader), Bakko (Mina’s companion), and Kaiju No. 10 (Soshiro’s suit’s core)

Four former members of the Third Division joined the ranks: Kafka Hibino, Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, and Iharu Furuhashi. After Kafka’s shocking revelation where he utilized his Kaiju powers to ward off a Yoju bomb, all four were reassigned to new divisions. Kafka and Kikoru were promoted to the elite First Division, making them the only two officers on the team. In contrast, Ichikawa and Iharu ended up in the Fourth Division, which has one captain and a small group of officers as its membership.

Third Division Weapons And Who Uses Them

Kaiju-Powered Weapons With Destructive Force

Reputable members of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force receive personally tailored weapons, designed to maximize their unique abilities and combat effectiveness. For instance, Mina Ashiro was issued the T-25101985 Canon manufactured by Izumo Tech. This weapon is renowned for inflicting severe damage or even fatal blows on powerful Kaiju with minimal ammunition usage. However, the canon only holds up to five rounds at a time and Mina’s strategic mindset enables her to triumph over her enemies with fewer rounds than anticipated, preserving valuable ammo for potential encounters with multiple threats.

Instead of: Soshiro, vice captain of the Third Division, uniquely employs distinct tactics with short-range weaponry, and is the sole member of this division equipped with three Izumo Tech weapons. His arsenal includes his Twin Swords, labeled SW-2033, and his Katana, identified by SW-1023 markings. These weapons boast impressive toughness and can slice through even the most robust Kaiju’s flesh. Additionally, Soshiro dons a custom combat suit derived from Kaiju No. 10. This suit is also the only documented Weapons number to possess an independent consciousness.

Due to her exceptional combat abilities, Kikoru Shinomiya is the sole member of the Third Division besides an Officer who owns a personalized weapon. She previously wielded the AX-0112 Battle Axe, a defective prototype that was eventually demolished in battle. Following that, she received the enhanced version, the AX-0113 Battle Axe. Kikoru also obtained a Giant Sword labeled 03 5-12066 as a gift, but its insufficient durability and power made it unsuitable for cutting through Kaijus, leading to her retirement of this weapon in favor of the Battle Axe. Lastly, Kikoru’s Numbers weapon is a battle suit fashioned from the body of Kaiju No. 4. This equipment enhances her speed and enables her to fly.
