Keep Driving is the new game from Post Void developer

As someone who grew up in the early 2000s and spent countless hours on the open road with nothing but a map and my trusty car, Keep Driving has me absolutely hooked! The nostalgia is palpable and the prospect of exploring a procedurally generated world, filled with misfits and oddballs, sounds like an adventure I can’t resist.

The studio responsible for creating Post Void, known as YCJY, has unveiled their latest project titled “Keep Driving”. This upcoming game offers a sentimental role-playing experience that revolves around the theme of traveling on the open highway.

A fresh trailer is out now, highlighting the appealing graphics. YCJY comments about the game: “The year is in the early 2000s, and you’ve just purchased your first car. An extended, leisurely summer stretches before you. After learning about a festival far across the country, you ignite your engine, chart a route on your map, and embark on a journey. Whether or not you reach your destination is in your hands.

In “Keep Driving,” you’ll navigate an ever-changing pixel art open world as part of a strategic RPG experience. Give rides to hitchhikers, each with their unique traits and tales; enhance, personalize, and fix your vehicle to keep it running smoothly. Overcome obstacles on the journey using a distinct, turn-based ‘conflict’ system, utilizing your abilities and whatever tools you find in the glovebox to progress.

After wrapping up my epic road trip, I found myself standing at the starting point, pondering what might have transpired if I’d chosen a different route. The game offers various endings, each requiring 1-4 hours of playtime to uncover. As you traverse this vast world via highways, dirt tracks, and peaceful country lanes, don’t forget to savor the journey. Youth is on my side, so I’ve got little to lose – let’s see where these new paths lead!

Here’s the key features from the latest press release:

  • A procedurally generated pixel art world to explore one road at a time.
  • A nostalgic early 2000s setting with an emphasis on the analogue .
  • Use turn-based ‘combat’ to solve situations (like getting stuck behind a tractor).
  • Pick up misfits, oddballs and lost souls as you go.
  • Featuring a killer soundtrack by local indie bands.
  • Multiple endings to unlock when you return to the road.
  • Inspired by Oregon Trail II, FTL, Two Lane Blacktop, Paris Texas, Jalopy, Gloom Haven, The 7th Continent, and the developer’s lives.

The game “Keep Driving” hasn’t been scheduled for release just yet, but rest assured, it’s on its way to PC via Steam. You’ll have the chance to experience it during Steam Next Fest on October 14th, which means a demo will be accessible for you to test out on that day.
