In the game Keeper, after you’ve played as the lighthouse, you’ll become a boat and have to travel through two different areas. The first area has clear water and vibrant coral reefs, but the second has been taken over by a dark corruption. These boat sections can be challenging, so this guide is here to help if you’re having trouble getting through them.
This guide is divided into two parts: one explains the “clean ocean” area, and the other covers the “corrupted ocean” area.
Keeper Clean Ocean Walkthrough
Through Slime Grotto
Jump into the water and follow the path ahead, using the blue ramps to climb when needed. The path will lead you to a cave. When you reach a split in the path, turn right. You’ll then see a stone wall. Shine your light on the yellow plants to the right of the wall to make the path clear.
As you progress, you’ll find more obstacles blocked by yellow growths. You can remove the first one by simply shining your light on the two growths attached to it. To clear the second obstacle, focus your light on the green pod on the left. The third obstacle requires you to destroy three growths, with two hidden in a small alcove.
The next room contains another barrier, which players can break by shining their light on the glowing growths – one near them and another on the far side of the room. Once destroyed, they can leave the cave and continue their journey through Keeper’s world.
Collect Four Small Creatures in The Coral Sanctum
Okay, so I’m back with that bird – and its little chick! The next part of the game has me sailing alongside these massive creatures, which is pretty epic. Eventually, I steered the boat into this short passage and docked on the other side of the island. As soon as I docked, a tiny creature hopped aboard! Now, I need to find three more of them hiding around this area past a gate made of shells. It’s like a little scavenger hunt!
To find the second creature, go to the tall tree with the purple top – it’s ahead and to the right. Shine your light on all the yellow growths on the tree; some will appear after you’ve dealt with the first set. Then, land on the island to collect it.
Go to the small recessed area right after the tree. Shine your light on the three orange plants there until they flower. This will allow you to dock and retrieve the third creature.
Okay, so after leaving that little area, I headed forward and a bit to the left, and wow, I ran into this amazing island completely covered in tall, pink coral! You can actually pull your boat up to the side of it to find and collect the fourth creature – it’s pretty cool!
Head to the big island close to the area’s entrance – you’ll recognize it by the pink glowing orbs above it. On one side of the island, you’ll find a creature holding a staff. Dock your ship near it to free the creatures you’ve gathered. Doing so will release an orb, which you can then collect using your bird.
Once you have the orb, place it into the glowing statue located right after the big island. Then, sail to the large statue that rose from the water and use its beam of light to clear the blockage and open the way forward.
Collect Four Drifters at the Lock Keeper
Okay, so next up, you’ll want to head forward and a little to the right – you can’t miss this awesome arch made of roots! There’s a little Drifter creature floating in the water right in front of it. Use your bird to go check it out – it’s important! Once you do, the Drifter will start to move, and you should follow it under that root arch and into a small hidden area. You’ll find another Drifter there, and if you get close, both of them will start following your boat. It’s a pretty cool sight!
Now, head to the back-left corner of the area. You’ll find a small alcove with a Drifter sitting on a creature. Here’s how to make the Drifter follow you:
- Send the bird to the crank on the left.
- Wind the crank so that the bucket is under the falling water.
- Wind the crank so that the filled bucket is above the Drifter.
- Focus your light on the bucket’s eye.
Exit the alcove and sail towards the glowing statue rising from the water, which is right in front of the big, steaming machine. Use the bird to fix the statue’s light, then return to the alcove. A large statue will now be fully visible. Guide its beam of light to the nearby gate. Once you’ve lit up the top of the gate, shine the light on the bottom eye to open it.
Go through the gate and into the cave, then take the right path when you come to a split. Shine your light on the yellow plants to remove a barrier. Beyond the barrier, you’ll find an orb in a small alcove – use your bird to pick it up.
Go to the right path at the fork in the road. Use the bird to remove the vines on the right side. Then, use your light to destroy the three glowing plants in the area, which will free the fourth Drifter. One of these plants is hidden – you’ll need to shine your light on the oval-shaped part of the left wall to reveal it.
Now that you’ve found the fourth Drifter, head back outside and sail to the big, smoking machine. Place the new bulb into the glowing statue beside it, then sail towards the large statue that has risen from the water. Shine the light from this statue onto the barriers to clear a path and reach an alcove containing a large bone. The Drifters will lift the bone, so follow them up and into another alcove where you’ll find a third orb.
Okay, so once I grabbed that bulb with the bird, I sailed up the ramp and headed back to that big, smoky machine. I stuck the bulb into the last glowing statue, and that opened up the machine! I went inside, and that took me to the next area where I could keep playing and find out what happens next in Keeper’s story.
Keeper Corrupted Ocean Walkthrough
The Lighthouse
You’ll eventually come to a part where you get to operate the lighthouse for a short time. While you control it, you can use the light to scare off the creatures coming towards you, but ultimately, there will be too many to fend off.
The First Creature
Once you have the boat back under control, head forward, using your light to navigate the murky, corrupted water. This will lead you to a creature trapped by the corruption. Shine your light on the corruption to cleanse it and free the creature. Once freed, the creature will clear the way forward, so follow it to continue.
You’ll soon encounter a barrier you can break by shining your light on the yellow growth on it. Once you destroy the growth, a pink eye will appear – focus your light on that to clear it. Beyond the eye is a small alcove, and here’s how to get rid of the obstacle inside it:
- Send the bird to the crank on the structure to the right.
- Wind the crank to bring the dangling object all the way up.
- Wind the second crank to point the object’s light at the right eye.
- Focus your light on the left eye.
Next, go towards the pink eye and shine your light on the two yellow growths to uncover another eye. Then, move to the left and illuminate the pink vines holding an orb. This will make the vines pull back and drop the orb into a pipe.
The pipe will carry the orb to a large statue close to the pink eye. Players need to direct the light from the orb onto the right pink eye, then onto the left one to remove the barrier. After that, shine the light on the pink barrier in the next area to proceed.
Continue along the path, keeping to the right, until you see a bright yellow growth. Shine your light on it to destroy it. Next, sail to the left and go under the pipe. You’ll find a glowing orb covered in dark corruption. Use your light to purify the orb, which will then float into the pipe.
Keep the glowing orb company as it moves through the pipe. If it gets stuck, quickly rush forward and hit it. Then, shine your light on any dark growth that’s holding it back to release it, so it can roll into a statue and wake it up. Finally, direct the beam of light from the statue towards the pink eye on the right side to remove the barrier.
Collect Two Drifters
Continue forward and slightly to the left to discover a Drifter held captive by some tainted water. Shine your light on the tainted water to purify it, allowing the Drifter to join you.
A large group of creatures is gathering near the first Drifter, and players need to shine their lights on it. This will cause the creatures to surround the boat, after which players should shine their lights again to drive them away.
Go back to the area’s entrance, and then head forward and to the right. As you walk down this path, look to your left for a stream of water – it leads to a cave. Inside the cave, remove the corruption that’s holding the orb captive, which will allow it to flow down a pipe.
Okay, so I found this waterfall, and right across from where the water’s flowing, there’s actually a hidden shrine tucked away behind it. You can activate it, which is pretty cool!
Now, players need to focus on aiming the green light beam inside the cave. Here’s how to do it:
- Focus your light on the pink vines to the left to reveal a crank.
- Send the bird to the crank. You must keep your light on the vines.
- Wind the crank to move the suspended device toward the pink eye, stopping when it sends the green beam into the eye.
Leave the cave and you’ll find yourself in a small area with a Drifter. Shine your light on the dirty water to clean it and release the creature trapped inside.
Exit the small area and go towards the pink eye on your left. Shine your light on it to remove the blockage, letting the orb inside the cave move along the pipe. Keep following the orb until it gets stuck, then use one Drifter to fix the broken track. When the orb stops again, send your other Drifter, and the ramp that appears will allow the orb to reach a large statue. Now, direct the statue’s light towards the right pink eye, and then shine your light on the left pink eye to open the way forward.

Move into the next area and shine your light on the pink barrier to make it disappear. The next part of the puzzle involves getting two small creatures to move – here’s how to do it:
- Focus your light on the orange plant on the right side of the bridge to make it bloom.
- Focus your light on the yellow growth in the alcove where the creature started once it moves to the plant.
- Focus your light on the growth to the left of the alcove.
- Sail under the spikes on the left, and focus your light on the growth to the right.
- Focus your light on the pink eye that is revealed.
- Head to the back-left corner of the area that is now accessible to find an orb, clearing the corrupted water in front of it.
- Send the bird to the orb.
- Focus your light on the orange plant to the right of the bridge until it blooms.
- Sail down and to the right, passing under a bridge, to access an area with two orange plants, both of which should be made to bloom.
- Sail next to where the creature is waiting and dock.
- Take the creature into the area where you just made two plants bloom and dock on the left side.
- Sail to the right and make two more orange plants bloom in the next area.
- Clear the corruption when it appears in the water and dock to give the creature another ride.
- Sail right, up, and to the left to reach another dock, which will allow the creature to reach the last two plants that bloomed.
To the left of the last dock, you’ll find a ramp leading to a small alcove. Inside, there’s a shrine you can activate.

Once the creature reaches the final plant, it will send an orb into a pipe. Players need to follow the orb as it activates a large statue. To remove a barrier, direct the light from the orb to the statue’s right pink eye, then focus the light on the left pink eye.
The Second Creature

The next area holds another creature stuck in tainted water, and players can rescue it using their light. Once freed, players need to complete a few steps to overcome the next challenge.
- Focus your light on the pink growth to the right of the pink eyes.
- Send the bird to the flower that appears and tug on it.
- Sail down and to the left to find a tunnel marked with pink vines. Enter it to be transported to a new area.
- Focus your light on the two yellow growths that are tucked into the shells.
- Focus your light on the wall to the left to find two growths that should be destroyed.
- Destroy two more growths in the water.
- Use the bird to collect an orb in the water.
Now, take the orb to the left, purifying any corrupted water along the way, until you reach a ramp. Beyond the ramp, you’ll find a glowing statue. Place the orb into the statue, then shine your light directly onto its central pink eye to remove the barrier.

Next, shine your light on the big pink creature. This will start a cutscene and finish the boat portion of the game, *Keeper*.
