The February 2026 State of Play kicked off with a new look at Kena: Scars of Kosmora, revealed in a two-and-a-half-minute trailer that brought fans back to an older version of Kena and hinted at what’s new in this installment. In a PlayStation Blog post, Ember Labs co-founder Josh Grier shared more details about the game’s story. Now a more experienced and famous spirit guide, Kena journeys to the island of Kosmora seeking a cure for a strange illness. During her travels, she’ll need to master the art of alchemy to overcome the island’s supernatural dangers.
Now with a new team, Kena can use different elemental powers, which are key to how you play Kena: Scars of Kosmora. You’ll not only attack enemies with things like ice, but also use these powers to make friends with elemental spirits. One example is a fox-like creature covered in plants, which you can ride to explore the island. As you play, you’ll build relationships with these spirits and help them grow into powerful allies with unique abilities.
Near the end of a PlayStation Blog post, Grier explained that working with PlayStation allowed the development team to create a bigger and more detailed world. They focused on well-designed areas, a clear path of progress, and a feeling of adventure. Although fans will have to play Kena: Scars of Kosmora when it releases to see everything the game offers, the reveal trailer suggested improved combat and deeper exploration, including a spirit companion that can be ridden as a mount.

In the meantime, PlayStation fans have plenty to enjoy after the February State of Play. Highlights included the reveal of a new Castlevania game, a longer look at Saros, and the first gameplay footage of Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The event also hinted that Santa Monica Studio is working on remakes of the original PlayStation 2 God of War games. Plus, the long-awaited 2D God of War game was finally revealed and released immediately on PS5!
