Killing Floor 3 Delayed To “Undecided Date” In 2025 To Fix Issues From Closed Beta

Delays can be disappointing, but sometimes, they’re exactly what a game needs.

Tripwire Interactive recently announced on X that the release date for Killing Floor 3, their upcoming sci-fi zombie-slaughtering first-person shooter, has been moved from its initial plan of March 25, 2025, to an unspecified later date in 2025. Embracer Group, their parent company, is fully backing the project.

The postponement serves to provide time for addressing numerous problems that players faced while playing during the closed beta test, which took place between February 20th and 24th.

How About That Closed Beta?

After the Killing Floor 3 beta concluded, concerns about the game’s state emerged, as evidenced by an X post shortly thereafter. In this post, Tripwire announced that they were cancelling a previously scheduled livestream on February 27th, instead opting to delve deeply into ways to enhance the game and create a comprehensive action plan to address the issues that had been raised during the beta.

It seems like this delay is what they settled on.

Among the concerns they aim to tackle are performance and system reliability, user interface and user experience design, lighting effects, and weapon handling sensations. They add that not all problems will be resolved by the initial release, but they do intend to roll out a post-launch update to provide players with an option to customize their perk class and character individually.

It appears that the post regarding the delay on X has garnered considerable approval from the community. The majority of responses indicate optimism that this delay could result in a more satisfying user experience, as compared to the underwhelming beta version.

As a devoted fan, I’ve always been captivated by the adrenaline-fueled, swift-moving team-oriented gameplay of the Killing Floor series, with the latest installment dropping in 2016. What’s particularly remarkable is that Tripwire Interactive has consistently stood by this title post-launch, providing regular updates and support for Killing Floor 2.

It’s hoped that Killing Floor 3 will also reach that same level of quality, but first, they must strengthen the game’s foundation. So, let’s hope this delay provides them with enough time to meet the expectations established by the prior games.
