Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: How To Paint Shields

In the expansion pack for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, known as Brushes with Death, a fresh Shield Painting mechanic has been added. Here’s a guide on how to use it.

In a nutshell, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers an expansive Role-Playing Game (RPG) experience filled with numerous activities. However, the creators felt there was room for improvement. Enter Shield Painting, one of the highlights from the Brushes with Death DLC, along with other additions. This innovative feature lets players do just what its title implies – they can now personalize their shields by choosing colors, patterns, and symbols to their liking.

Beyond this, enigmatic Master Voyta is set to instruct Henry on the craft. Let’s proceed immediately; here’s a guide for painting your shields in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How To Paint Shields in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

To master shield painting, as previously noted, you’ll require a tool called Voyta. You can obtain this by embarking on the Brushes with DLC quest. This journey begins when Voyta asks for your help in retrieving his stolen brushes, which is initiated in the Sketchy Situation quest.

After you’ve handed back the stolen artifacts to the artist, he will establish his studio within Trosky Castle. If you find it challenging to locate him, search for a distinctive purple paintbrush marker. Then, seek him out during daylight hours and inquire about Shield Painting. You can choose from two dialogue options: “I’m curious about shield painting” or “Can you create a shield for me?”.

Choose Your Shield’s Design

To create a Shield Painting in the game, you’ll naturally require a shield with you, whether it’s currently decorated or plain. Luckily, this can be any of your existing shields. After instructing Voyta to paint a new shield, simply hand over one from your collection. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, there are predominantly four types of shields available: Cuman, Knight, Pavese, and Heater. Any of these will suffice for the task at hand.

Then, you will have four of the following options to customize your shield:

  • Pattern: The term “Pattern” generally refers to the background of the shield in this context.
  • Color I & II: Color I and II are the only two available slots for colors on your shield.
  • Symbols: You will find many symbols under the category option, including Historical ones or something that represents an Animal. Additionally, Henry will be able to unlock more symbols by exploring the world and progressing through the various quests.

Once you’re happy with the updated layout of your shield, choose the “Apply Changes Permanently” button below. Luckily for you, since you aided Voyta in the Sketchy Situation mission, he will graciously paint your shield at no cost. From then on, you can continue to request him to paint new designs or revert back to the original one whenever you like.
