In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, “So It Begins” serves as the primary mission, centering around battles. As hostile troops move towards Suchdol, it falls upon Henry and his companions to seize command and safeguard the fortress against capture.

During this journey, you’ll encounter two crucial conflicts, so it’s essential to make adequate preparations beforehand. Keep in mind that, due to the Oratores quest, fast traveling is currently out of reach. Therefore, all your preparations should be done within Suchdol.

Surviving the Suchdol Ambush

The commencement of the So It Begins mission finds us standing before Prague, a task now entrusted to Henry and his comrades for its defense within the fortress.

Before dashing towards the summit of the gate for its protection, pick up a halberd nearby the stairs. You’ll find it useful momentarily.

After that, make your way up to the ramparts, seize the hefty crossbow from the storage chest, and start firing at the assailants advancing towards the walls.

As the enemy approaches dangerously near our main gate, I dash swiftly towards the stone mound, located not far from where I retrieved my mighty crossbow. There, I hastily gather and fling the stones atop the soldier’s helmet – a tactic reminiscent of the For Victory! quest objective.

After eliminating all the enemies at the gate, prepare to act swiftly as the next wave attempts to climb ladders and enter. Use the Voulge you acquired earlier to bring down the ladders before they reach your position. Once you’ve knocked down five of them, the enemy will withdraw.

Preparing and Recruiting the Team

Our primary focus now is to get ready for a siege, partnering with Godwin. To make sure we’re adequately prepared, there are several individuals you might want to consult. Here they are:

  • Janosh: Visit him to get food
  • Katherine and Musa: Medical supplies
  • Frenzl: Ammunition supplies.

1. Every character is clearly identified by a red marker, so they are simple to locate.

2. It’s advisable to craft a more powerful weapon at Frenzl’s forge if your current one is close to breaking or has weak stats.

Afterwards, address Zizka and Godwin near the entrance gate. Zizka is tasked with instructing Henry to assemble a troop of soldiers, consisting of Dobrosh, Knocker Wolfram, Samuel, Kubyenka, and some old acquaintances.

Approach the designated red spots, and address the gathered men to let them know that it’s now time for assembly.

Once you’ve chatted with each of them, gather them in the open-air meeting spot and share that everyone is on duty for the night watch. Now would be a good time to rest in your own bed, ready yourself for the approaching night.

Defending the Night Watch at Suchdol

As the night falls, you’ll be roused from sleep by an intoxicated Watchman Devil, who insists that you verify if your guards are on duty.

As I traverse to every designated spot, where my troops are stationed, I interact with each one. If any happen to be dozing off, I gently nudge them awake with a swift tap on the shoulder – or so it feels like – using the hilt of my sword.

Following a thorough inspection of all your troops, unexpectedly, the fortress could fall under attack. In such a situation, utilize your pike to knock down any ladders that might appear, thus hindering enemy soldiers from gaining entry. However, if they manage to breach the defenses, eliminate them swiftly.

Fortunately, you can count on your allies being with you, which makes sneaking up on the enemies while they’re preoccupied and striking them from the rear an effective way to take them down swiftly.

Once you’ve taken down both ladders, proceed to the courtyard to consult with Zizka and the group about our subsequent actions. Last but not least, don’t forget to converse with Zizka and share details regarding last night’s watch duty.

In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, this action concludes the So It Begins mission with a concluding cinematic scene. Following this, the next principal quest titled “Besieged” will commence.
