Square Enix has shared optimistic news regarding the progress of both Kingdom Hearts 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Kingdom Hearts 4, set to be the next installment in the series, is a joint production between Square Enix and Disney, while the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy revisits the original 1997 game for contemporary gaming systems.
2024 marked the arrival of the latest chapter in the trilogy of the reimagined Final Fantasy 7 Remake, titled Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Post their escape from Midgar, Cloud and his allies traverse a revamped game universe showcasing enhanced textures and lighting. Meanwhile, news about Kingdom Hearts 4 was first shared in 2022, leaving fans with an eerie resemblance to Hollow Knight: Silksong as details on the continuation of Sora and his companions’ journey have remained scarce. The eagerly awaited installments of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy and Kingdom Hearts 4 keep fans on their toes, with recent updates offering a glimmer of hope.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 Development Still Going Strong
In a tweet, user Genki_JPN shared that during a livestream in celebration of the second anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis, Lead Director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed the ongoing development of both Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4. Nomura mentioned that the progress on these projects is going well, and hinted that Square Enix will soon reveal more details about them. However, he also noted that the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series still doesn’t have a title and hasn’t been publicly unveiled yet.
Regarding Kingdom Hearts 4, Nomura himself expressed optimism. The game’s director and developer shared that the development of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts installment is going smoothly as planned. However, he didn’t disclose any further details or hinted at Square Enix having news to share about Kingdom Hearts 4 just yet. Previously, there was a leak suggesting potential worlds in Kingdom Hearts 4.

Following such encouraging developments, enthusiasts of Kingdom Hearts 4 eagerly anticipate a potential new update in the not-too-distant future. Meanwhile, fans of Final Fantasy should jot down September 27 on their calendars, as Square Enix is set to appear at the Tokyo Game Show. The list of games for this year’s event has been announced and offers exciting news about Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and other titles.
