At Netflix’s big Tudum event on Saturday night, fans of Knives Out finally caught a glimpse of the upcoming movie Wake Up Dead Man. Although it wasn’t a complete trailer, it certainly set the tone for the third film featuring Benoit Blanc, and it effectively hinted that Rian Johnson and the team might have surpassed themselves with the cast this time. Of course, Daniel Craig will be back as Blanc, but he’ll be accompanied by Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Brings New Faces To Daniel Craig’s Franchise
The first “Knives Out” film critically examined the harmful impacts of inherited wealth within a family, while the second targeted the super-rich. It appears that the third installment will focus on religious institutions, as hinted by a developing scandal involving a death. Benoit Blanc, played by Craig, alludes to an “impossible crime” in the trailer and further states, “This was presented as a miracle, but it’s merely a murder, and I unravel murders.
We haven’t learned much about the specific roles each actor has in the production, but there are some hints about who a few of the well-known stars will portray. For instance, Josh O’Connor is taking on the role of Rev. Jud Duplenticy, a priest apparently involved in an incident suggested in the teaser. Josh Brolin is playing Msgr. Jefferson Wicks, another priest, while Mila Kunis’s character is Geraldine Scott, the local police chief. Jeremy Renner is cast as Nat Sharp, who seems to be a doctor.
