For the past ten years, My Hero Academia has been a major anime hit, especially after series like Naruto and Bleach finished. It’s become a beloved and incredibly popular show, but the manga recently concluded late last year, and the final season is currently airing. With the story nearing its end and the creator, Horikoshi, stepping back, fans are searching for their next favorite series. Interestingly, Horikoshi seems to have a recommendation: Kagurabachi. The two series even collaborated recently, suggesting it’s a show fans might really enjoy.
My Hero Academia Ended, and a New Manga Rises
- Kagurabachi and MHA Get a Collab
- Kagurabachi is Set Up To Be a Great Replacement For MHA
The manga series My Hero Academia finished in 2024, leaving a significant gap in Weekly Shonen Jump, particularly since it ended so close to the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen. For a while, One Piece was the only major series consistently carrying the magazine. However, a new wave of manga is now emerging, and Kagurabachi is quickly becoming one of the most popular new series in Shonen Jump, with many fans eager to see what it will become.
This is the story of how we all become the greatest Heroes! — Izuku Midoriya
It’s not surprising that many fans are enjoying Kagurabachi as much as My Hero Academia (MHA). What some may not realize is the direct connection between the two series. The very first chapter of Kagurabachi was reviewed by Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of MHA, giving it a strong start. Now, the two series have collaborated further: Horikoshi created a new illustration of Chihiro from Kagurabachi, and Kagurabachi’s creator, Takeru Hokazono, drew a picture of Izuku Midoriya, the main character from MHA. This exciting exchange has fans hoping for more collaborations as Kagurabachi quickly becomes one of Shonen Jump’s most promising new series.
Growing up, I used to believe that as soon as a war finished, everything just… went back to normal. But I’m realizing now that things are a lot more complicated than that, and our struggles don’t just disappear when the fighting stops. It seems like the story continues, even after it should be over.
Kagurabachi Will Only Grow in Popularity
Kagurabachi Will Get an Anime Soon
Kagurabachi is gaining popularity, but it’s not quite at the level of the most successful manga in Weekly Shonen Jump right now. An anime adaptation would likely give it a significant boost, and it seems one is in development with Cygames Pictures. Cygames Pictures has a strong reputation, so fans are hopeful they’ll create a fantastic adaptation that attracts a wider audience.
The My Hero Academia manga has finished its run, totaling 431 chapters which are all available to read on Manga Plus. While the manga is complete, the anime is still ongoing and its final season is expected to premiere later this year. You can stream the anime on Crunchyroll.
