Konami Game Leaked for Nintendo Switch 2

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got some exciting news! It looks like there might be a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Konami’s eFootball in the works. Some sneaky digging in the latest game update uncovered a hint pointing towards this hybrid console. If true, it would be a significant change for the long-standing series, as eFootball has traditionally had limited appearances on Nintendo hardware. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed for some fantastic soccer action on Switch 2!

As a dedicated fan, I’ve been following Konami’s football simulation series since its inception in 1996, formerly known as “Winning Eleven” and “Pro Evolution Soccer”. In 2021, they rebranded their beloved PES to “eFootball”, switching the gameplay model to a free-to-play format, aiming to connect with new audiences by focusing more on online play. Regrettably, Nintendo Switch users like myself have yet to experience a single entry in this iconic football franchise.

Nintendo Switch 2 Codename Mentioned in Latest eFootball Version

The prolonged hiatus of the series on Nintendo hardware might be nearing its conclusion, as suggested by dataminer Durandil67 and his findings in the updated version of eFootball released on August 14, 2026. While exploring the game’s platform list, Durandil67 discovered an addition that wasn’t present in the previous build – a value labeled “NOZ.” This term is believed to be linked to the codename for the Nintendo Switch 2, which leaked back in October 2024 and has since been corroborated through multiple datamining endeavors. The codename “NOZ” could be derived from the word “Ounce,” suggesting a potential reference to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Konami Once Also Considered Porting eFootball Mobile to Nintendo Switch 1

The same list (enum) includes another entry, “NSW,” which might be related to the original Nintendo Switch. Since the game eFootball was never adapted for this 2017 device, it’s unlikely that it will be now, given the console’s approaching end of life. However, the existence of the NSW label, which shares the “AM” prefix used in the mobile versions of eFootball for iOS and Android, suggests that if a Switch port had ever been developed, it would have been based on the mobile version of the game rather than its console counterparts.

Instead, it seems that in the NOZ reference, “CS” stands for “console.” If eFootball ever comes to the Switch 2, this label suggests it will be comparable in features and content to other console versions. Notably, Konami has shown support for Nintendo’s new console early on, with one of the select few Switch 2 launch exclusives being a co-op survival game called Survival Kids.

PES Has Been Missing From Nintendo Consoles for Over a Decade

In simpler terms, the new version of eFootball will be the first game in the series to appear on a Nintendo console since more than ten years ago. The last time a game from this series was playable on a Nintendo device was PES 2014, which had an exclusive version for the 3DS. Before that, unique handheld versions of PES 6 and PES 2008 were available on the DS. Besides eFootball, soccer enthusiasts anticipating a portable gaming experience can also look forward to the Switch 2 release of EA Sports FC 26, which is due out on September 26th.
