Konami Has Bad News for Xbox Players

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new Silent Hill game, and Konami, Annapurna Interactive, and Screen Burn have finally revealed it: Silent Hill: Townfall. However, Xbox players might be disappointed to learn that Townfall won’t be available on Xbox consoles when it’s first released. Currently, the game is planned to launch only on PlayStation 5 and PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store). It’s unclear how long Xbox fans will have to wait to experience the latest installment in the Silent Hill series.

Exclusive games aren’t new – when Nintendo, Atari, Sega, Sony, and others first released home consoles, games were often limited to just one system. This was common in the early days of video game development. Over time, developers started releasing games on multiple platforms to reach more players and boost profits, especially with the rise of online multiplayer. However, some companies still choose to partner for exclusive releases. Recently, Konami and PlayStation have teamed up to make the console version of Silent Hill: Townfall exclusive to PlayStation, meaning Xbox users won’t be able to play it – at least not yet.

What Platforms Will Silent Hill: Townfall Launch On?

  • PlayStation 5
  • PC (Steam, Epic Games Store)

As a big Silent Hill fan, I was checking the official Konami website and got the news on Silent Hill: Townfall. It’s coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026, which is great, but unfortunately, it looks like Xbox fans are going to miss out this time. It reminds me of the Silent Hill 2 remake – that was exclusive to PS5 for about a year, and a lot of us Xbox players had to either play it on PlayStation or be patient. Thankfully, Silent Hill f came to Xbox alongside the other platforms, so there was hope! It seems like Townfall might follow the same path as SH2 with a period of PlayStation exclusivity, but Konami might change things up as we learn more about the game and get closer to its release date. I’m still excited, but definitely hoping they reconsider the Xbox situation!

Many fans expected the Silent Hill remakes from Bloober Team to only be available on PlayStation 5, while new games like Silent Hill f would be released on all platforms simultaneously. However, Silent Hill: Townfall changed that expectation, leaving Xbox players uncertain about which future Silent Hill games might be skipped on their console. The recent free-to-play game, Silent Hill: The Short Message, is also currently a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Aside from Silent Hill f, there doesn’t seem to be any consistent pattern regarding which platforms the new Silent Hill games will be released on, which could be frustrating for horror fans who use Xbox.

The Silent Hill series highlights the frustration many gamers feel with games being limited to specific consoles. Some argue this practice encourages competition and rewards loyalty to certain brands, but it’s still a contentious issue for developers deciding where to release their games. Often, fans can only hope their favorite titles eventually become available on all platforms. The upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall has generated a lot of excitement, so the news that it will initially only be available on PlayStation 5 and PC has left Xbox fans disappointed. Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC and PS5, and there’s currently no confirmed date for an Xbox version.
