In contrast to Supermassive Games’ previous horror titles that are primarily set in contemporary times, their upcoming release, titled Directive 8020, is set in a completely different time period. Much like many of its recent productions, Directive 8020 is part of the The Dark Pictures Anthology series, which currently consists of four mainline entries and one VR-exclusive spin-off. As the first installment of the franchise’s second season, Directive 8020 will be set entirely on a spaceship called the Cassiopeia, which crash-landed on a distant planet in the distant future and became infected with a dangerous, shape-shifting alien organism.
In Directive 8020, players will control a group of five characters, any one of whom can meet their permanent end based on gameplay decisions. The central character in this game is Brianna Young, who pilots the spaceship known as Cassiopeia. On the cover art for the game, you’ll find Young, who is portrayed by British actress Lashana Lynch. While she might not be a familiar face to everyone, she has gained recognition from fans due to her roles in various popular movies and television series in recent times.
Directive 8020 Star Lashana Lynch Has a Storied Past in the Film Industry

Lashana Lynch Got Her Start in the Acting Business With Minor Roles in British Movies & Shows
Lashana Lynch kicked off her acting journey in 2007, appearing as a minor character in a long-running British police series titled “The Bill.” She didn’t break into the film industry until several years had passed. In 2012, she played a supporting role in a relatively unknown British sports drama called “Fast Girls.” Over time, she landed minor roles in various films such as the 2013 comedy movie “Power Room,” the 2016 crime film “Brotherhood,” and the BBC-produced 2014 romantic drama “The 7.39,” among others.
Lynch Has Portrayed Characters in Major Films like Captain Marvel and No Time to Die
Prior to her breakthrough, Lashana Lynch had primarily acted in domestic productions that were less recognized globally. However, her luck changed in 2019 when she landed a significant role outside of Britain, not just in an indie film but in the high-profile movie “Captain Marvel.” In this blockbuster, she brilliantly played Maria Rambeau, a former U.S. Air Force pilot and S.W.O.R.D. founder. Since then, Lynch has reprised her role as Rambeau in two more Marvel films: “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” (2022) and “The Marvels” (2023).
Beyond her roles in Marvel movies, Lashana Lynch has also made significant appearances in various other well-known films and series. For instance, she starred as 00 agent Nomi in the 2021 James Bond film “No Time to Die” and took on a leading role in the provocative action film “The Woman King.” Her resume includes portraying characters in Netflix’s musical adaptation of “Matilda,” the upcoming biographical drama “Bob Marley: One Love” set for 2024, and more recently, the spy thriller “The Day of the Jackal,” which is exclusive to Peacock.
Directive 8020 is the First Video Game that Lashana Lynch Has Ever Been Cast In
In simpler terms, Lashana Lynch and Danny Sapani are making their video game debut with “Directive 8020.” While it’s unusual for film actors to take on major roles in video games, the Supermassive Games series, “The Dark Pictures Anthology,” has often included Hollywood stars. The fact that these two actors are new to the gaming world is not unexpected. However, what is surprising is that they aren’t the only actors making their debut in “Directive 8020.” Details about the characters Lynch and Sapani will play in the game are scarce, but it’s encouraging to see that Supermassive Games is investing in quality acting for their upcoming project.
