Last of Us Part II Remastered Patch Adds PS5 Pro Support

As a dedicated gamer and long-time fan of The Last of Us series, I can confidently say that Naughty Dog has outdone themselves yet again with the 1.2.0 patch for The Last of Us Part II Remastered. This game has been my go-to title since its debut in 2013, and I’ve upgraded consoles for each new release. If they announced The Last of Us Part III for PS6, well, let’s just say my wallet would be feeling the strain!

In January 2024, The Last of Us Part II Remastered was once again warmly welcomed, marking another chapter in the acclaimed post-apocalyptic series. As players eagerly anticipate its PC debut, Naughty Dog is already fine-tuning the game for the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro release.

The latest 1.2.0 update saw some adjustments made by the developers, enhancing the game to be compatible with the PlayStation 5 Pro. This enhancement was achieved by improving the game’s graphics using a rendering mode that takes advantage of the new PlayStation Store Ray-Tracing (PSSR) technologies.

Better Than Ever

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is a stunning title that sold me on buying a PS5. Per my track record, I’ve brought a new console for each release of The Last of Us, as it’s my favourite PlayStation series and has been so since 2013 when the original game was released. If they announced The Last of Us Part III for PS6, guess what I’ll do?

With the 1.2.0 update for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, developer Naughty Dog has implemented changes to optimize the game for the anticipated capabilities of the next-generation PlayStation 5 Pro console.

New rendering mode added that takes advantage of PlayStation® Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR)
- New “Pro” mode renders at 1440p, with PSSR upscaling output to 4K, while maintaining a target of 60 fps*
- Performance and Fidelity rendering modes are still available and provide a smoother experience and high framerates compared to the original PS5*

Beyond the primary alterations, Naughty Dog has thoroughly addressed numerous issues and glitches in The Last of Us Part II Remastered, mainly concentrating on trophy achievements and save files.
