Okay, this is wild! I was already surprised by that leaked Prince of Persia stuff, but then screenshots popped up of what looks like a Worms game… but like, a really different Worms game. It seems to be taking a lot of inspiration from XCOM, which is amazing! It’s a strategy RPG, so a huge shift from the usual wacky, physics-based Worms we all know and love. I’m super curious to see how this turns out!
The recent leaks started with YouTuber j0nathan. On May 6th, he posted a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) that appears to be from a very early version of the next Prince of Persia game. As people debated if the screenshot was real, another X user, EvilLeeker, jumped into the conversation, claiming they also had leaks – this time for a new, unannounced Worms game.
Worms Galactic Tactics Strategy RPG Reportedly in the Works
Recent leaks have given us a first look at a new strategy RPG set in the world of Worms. The game features 3D environments and a top-down view of the battlefield. It’s reportedly titled Worms Galactic Tactics and appears to be mission-based, with players controlling squads of worms—up to six—against much larger enemy forces. Leaked images suggest players can unlock upgrades to improve their worms’ combat abilities between missions. While the game shares similarities with XCOM, it seems designed to be a more approachable and less complex strategy RPG.
A user named EvilLeeker posted gameplay footage of the upcoming game on X (formerly Twitter) through Streamable. The video was quickly taken down due to a copyright claim, which seemed to confirm the leak was genuine. As of May 9, 2026, the screenshots themselves were still available on X. The original post also included a partial image from the Steam client, revealing the unreleased game, currently known as Project Arrakis. This codename likely references the desert planet Arrakis from Frank Herbert’s Dune series.
A screenshot from EvilLeeker’s Project Arrakis shows that someone playing the unreleased game last did so in early August 2025. The image also reveals the game build was labeled “team17_playtest,” implying that Worms Galactic Tactics was still in very early development—a pre-alpha stage—at that time. This build name suggests that Team17, the original British studio behind the Worms series, was directly developing the game, unlike other Worms spin-offs like Worms Crazy Golf and Worms: Open Warfare 2, which were made by different developers.

Recent screenshots of the upcoming Worms Galactic Tactics show it’s moving away from the sleek, colorful style of Worms Rumble (from 2020). Instead, it’s adopting a more classic, cartoonish look – similar to what fans loved in older 3D Worms games like Worms 4 and Worms 3D. The screenshots also hint at how the game will be played: missions will likely be divided into four different parts or levels. Players will probably be able to buy upgrades between these levels, although it’s not yet clear if those upgrades will carry over to future missions or reset each time.
