It looks like Pokémon fans were right about a major theory concerning Pokémon Pokopia – recent leaks have confirmed what they suspected all along.
Pokémon Pokopia will launch on March 5, 2026. Players will experience the game as a human-disguised Ditto exploring a world brimming with Pokémon, but strangely devoid of other people.
Rumors have been swirling that the new Pokémon game, Pokopia, is set in a world after a major disaster, and a recent leak appears to support this idea.
Leaked Pokémon Pokopia Map Shows Post-Apocalyptic Kanto

CentroLeaks posted a supposed map of the new Pokémon game, Pokopia, on X. Translations suggest the game will feature a post-apocalyptic adventure set in the Kanto region.
The map features several distinct areas: Fuschia, characterized by barren, infertile land; Pewter, an old mine overtaken by rocks; and most notably, the Viridian Area, a constantly burning forest reduced to ash.
Many Pokémon trainers are familiar with locations in the Kanto region, like Fuchsia City with its Safari Zone, Pewter City where players battle Brock for their first gym badge, and Viridian Forest, an early area for new trainers to explore.
Players can expect more content after the game’s release, including areas based on the towns of Cerulean, Cinnabar, Lavender, and Celadon. This new content will likely be available through downloadable content (DLC) or updates.
Since the initial trailer for Pokémon Pokopia was released, fans have speculated the game takes place in a Kanto region that’s been devastated by some kind of disaster. Evidence supporting this theory includes a broken, original Pokédex and the ruins of familiar structures, such as Pokémon Centers.
Fans believe that Peakychu, the ghostly Pikachu, might be the spirit of Pokopia, the partner Pokémon of the character Red. They also think Mosslax, a Snorlax covered in plants, could be the same Snorlax players had to wake up with a Pokéflute in the original Kanto games.
Whether these ideas are correct is still unknown, and Pokémon Pokopia might be set in a separate universe from the core Pokémon games.
It might sound unbelievable, but Pokémon games have already introduced wild concepts like time travel in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and wormholes in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, proving they aren’t afraid to get creative.
