A recent leak reveals that stat-boosting and stat-lowering moves will work differently in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* compared to traditional *Pokémon* games. While *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* is already shaping up to be quite different from classic *Pokémon* titles, players who rely on moves like Swords Dance will need to adapt their strategies due to this change in how those moves function.
The new game, set in Lumiose City in the Kalos region, will delve deeper into the Mega Evolution feature and story elements first seen in *Pokémon X and Y*. With a possible 232 Pokémon to choose from, players will have plenty of options for creating their teams. However, longtime *Pokémon* fans should expect some changes to the usual gameplay.
Pokemon Legends Z-A Stat-Adjustment Moves Won’t Stack
A new change in gameplay will affect how stat-boosting and lowering moves work. Unlike the main *Pokemon* games, these moves won’t stack their effects. Instead, they’ll provide temporary buffs and debuffs that last for a set duration and at a consistent rate. A leaked image, shared by Centro Leaks on Twitter, shows a message explaining this change. This system will work like *Pokemon Legends: Arceus*: using a stat-adjusting move before its effect runs out will simply extend the duration, rather than making the buff or debuff stronger with each use.
Players will also benefit from some gameplay improvements. Details released so far show that *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* will change how Mega Evolution works. Players will be able to Mega Evolve a Pokemon multiple times during a single battle, and even use multiple Mega Evolved Pokemon on their team simultaneously. These changes fit the real-time battle system of the *Legends* series, which is different from the turn-based battles in traditional *Pokemon* games.
After a few early copies of *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* appeared online last week, fans have had mixed reactions. Some are excitedly searching for leaks to learn more about the game, while others are doing their best to avoid spoilers.
