Okay, so I’m a huge LEGO fan, and I recently finished building this crazy-detailed skyscraper. It’s almost six feet tall and it’s designed to look like the New York City skyline from the 1920s and 30s – I really wanted to capture that classic look! LEGOs are awesome because you can build pretty much anything, and as someone who loves New York architecture, I used them to create my own little version of some of my favorite buildings. It’s been getting a lot of attention, which is pretty cool!
LEGO has had a busy 2026, releasing sets based on popular franchises like Star Wars, Animal Crossing, and Harry Potter, among others. They’re also innovating with new technology, such as LEGO Smart Bricks, which add more interactivity to building. However, despite all the new official sets, it’s often the unique creations built by LEGO fans that really stand out and demonstrate the incredible creativity within the community.
LEGO Fan’s NYC Architectural Dreams are Realized in Classic Skyscraper
One creative builder recently completed an impressive 70-inch-tall skyscraper made entirely from spare LEGO bricks. Reddit user Garant26 built the structure, inspired by famous buildings in a well-known city skyline, using only pieces they already had. While they haven’t counted exactly how many bricks it took – it’s a massive amount – the build is almost complete. The base is intentionally open on one side, as the creator plans to connect it to another building, mirroring the design of 40 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan.

Building this detailed skyscraper model took about a week of evenings, with each session lasting five or six hours dedicated to planning and carefully placing each brick. Though the creator works in city planning and doesn’t have formal architectural training, they have a strong understanding of skyscraper construction, focusing on a solid foundation, a consistent central structure, and an ornate top to achieve a realistic and stable design. While the Empire State Building and the Woolworth Building were the primary inspirations, the creator confessed that the American Radiator Building is also a personal favorite after a fan pointed out its influence. The model’s historical accuracy and impressive detail have even led some to compare it to the iconic skyscrapers of Gotham City from the world of Batman.

One LEGO enthusiast pointed out they seem a bit too large for a New York City setting, even looking back a century. The creator aimed for realistic proportions but also wanted the base to work well with LEGO Minifigures. They still feel the limited greenery helps capture the feeling of a bustling city.
This LEGO enthusiast has loved New York City since they were a child, finally getting to visit at age 8 after convincing their father to take them. Sharing their LEGO model online led to a lucky connection – another LEGO fan, who is also a professional architect, saw the build and suggested they collaborate to improve it.
