Godzilla is a true icon of cinema, and his impact can be felt worldwide. It’s no surprise he continues to inspire artists today, including a passionate LEGO fan who created an incredible custom-built Godzilla with an ‘Atomic Breath’ effect for the Brickvention 2026 event. Although LEGO plans to release an official Godzilla set in 2026, fans are already amazed by this original design and are hoping LEGO will also make it available as an official building kit.
The iconic monster Godzilla first appeared in Toho Studio’s 1954 film, Gojira. Created in response to the devastation of nuclear weapons, Godzilla quickly became a symbol of post-war Japan and has since starred in over 33 Japanese films and 5 American ones – where he became known as Godzilla. His enduring popularity, along with other classic movie monsters, highlights the impact of 20th-century filmmaking and has led to a growing Godzilla universe that includes video games, merchandise, and even comic book team-ups with characters from Marvel and other popular franchises. While Godzilla toys and collectibles have always been popular, a recent impressive LEGO build of the monster has once again captured people’s imaginations.
LEGO Atomic Breath Godzilla Build
LEGO enthusiast Jayfa wowed attendees at the Brickvention 2026 event in Melbourne, Australia, with their incredible custom-built Godzilla. This impressive model features working LED lights for a glowing atomic breath effect and is fully poseable thanks to its segmented tail. Details like realistic scales and curled claws bring the monster to life, and the atomic breath appears to burst from its mouth and onto the display surface. Online fans were amazed by the build, with many requesting instructions on Rebrickable, a site for sharing custom LEGO designs. Some even suggested submitting the design to LEGO Ideas, where popular fan creations can become official LEGO sets.
Whether Jayfa will release instructions or submit a LEGO Ideas project remains to be seen, but LEGO and Godzilla enthusiasts are hopeful. Fan-created LEGO Ideas sets based on popular franchises have become quite popular online. Recent examples include sets inspired by The Goonies, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Gremlins, featuring Gizmo. LEGO also officially releases many sets based on well-known series like Pokemon, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and countless others.
With the new Godzilla movie, Godzilla Minus One, coming out soon, many fans are hoping LEGO will release more than just the one fan-designed set. While it’s uncertain if LEGO will create an official Godzilla kit themselves, LEGO has been expanding its range of products. A kit made in partnership with Toho Co., Ltd., the company that owns Godzilla, would be a dream come true for fans.
