LEGO Fan Transforms Bonsai Tree Into Pirates of the Caribbean Flying Dutchman

Okay, so this LEGO builder totally blew my mind! They managed to build the Flying Dutchman from Pirates of the Caribbean using only the pieces from the Bonsai Tree set – no extra bricks needed! It’s crazy because LEGO and Disney have worked together before, but they still haven’t released an official Flying Dutchman set. That’s where the LEGO community steps in, you know? We love a challenge and building our own awesome creations when official sets don’t exist!

LEGO has become incredibly popular, partly through partnerships with well-known brands. But LEGO also has its own successful lines, like the Botanical Collection, which are especially popular with adults. These sets are fun to build and also make attractive home decorations. LEGO encourages creativity too – people are welcome to build whatever they imagine, instead of following the instructions. One fan even transformed a Botanical Collection set into a stunning pirate ship!

Custom LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Flying Dutchman Build from Bonsai Tree Set

A Reddit user named Minute_Food_2881 (also known as Creation Caravan) recently built an impressive LEGO model of the Flying Dutchman, the iconic ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Remarkably, they built it entirely from a LEGO Bonsai Tree set – without needing any extra pieces! The ship’s sails were created using the bonsai’s leaves, and the trunk and base formed the ship’s wooden structure. They even managed to incorporate pieces that function as ropes. This isn’t the first amazing alternate build from this LEGO enthusiast; they previously used the same 878-piece bonsai set to create a custom LEGO Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda.

A LEGO creation of the Flying Dutchman by Creation Caravan is gaining a lot of attention on Reddit, with over 20,000 upvotes. Many LEGO enthusiasts have complimented the builder’s impressive vision and detailed work, with some suggesting LEGO hire them! This isn’t the first time Creation Caravan’s builds have gone viral; they’ve become well-known for their custom Star Wars creations. They famously rebuilt a LEGO Lightning McQueen as the Millennium Falcon, and have also cleverly used pieces from sets like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario, and Fast & Furious to recreate Han Solo’s ship.

I’m a big LEGO fan, and like a lot of others, I love building stuff from my favorite movies and shows when LEGO doesn’t actually make those sets. They recently released an official LEGO set for Jack Sparrow’s Black Pearl, which was awesome! That got a lot of us hoping they’d do a Flying Dutchman set too. There were some leaks about 40 new LEGO sets coming in 2026, but nothing about more Pirates of the Caribbean stuff. Fingers crossed LEGO decides to make more sets from that Disney movie – it would be amazing!

LEGO fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026! In January, LEGO unveiled its new Smart Play line – interactive bricks that respond to movement with sounds. The first Star Wars Smart Play sets will be released on March 1st, alongside builds of the FIFA World Cup trophy and several Batman sets. LEGO’s first Pokemon series arrives on February 27th, and new sets based on KPop Demon Hunters have also been announced. It’s going to be exciting to see what LEGO creates next for its fans.
