LEGO Horizon Adventures Pre-Order Bonus Explained

LEGO Horizon Adventures Pre-Order Bonus Explained

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that LEGO Horizon Adventures is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the LEGO and Horizon Zero Dawn franchises. The ability to change outfits for each character instead of switching characters entirely is a refreshing take, and the variety of cosmetic bonuses on offer is truly enticing.

Starting November 14th, gamers on PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch will have the chance to explore a LEGO rendition of the post-apocalyptic Western U.S., with the arrival of LEGO Horizon Journeys. Essentially a more kid-friendly spinoff of Horizon Zero Dawn, Journeys finds Aloy embarking on another self-discovery and heroic quest to save the world from the impending doom brought about by reawakened war machines. In this version, Aloy won’t be venturing solo; Journeys enables a second player to join her, assuming the roles of Varl, Erend, or Teersa in either local or online cooperative play. As you progress through LEGO Horizon Journeys, numerous items and outfits can be collected, some exclusively by pre-ordering the game.

LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Cosmetic Bonuses

In contrast to past LEGO games developed by TT Games like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, LEGO Horizon Adventures enables players to alter the attire of each playable character rather than having to swap out characters entirely. For instance, in The Skywalker Saga, Finn from Episode 9 and Finn with the Kijimi Coat are separate characters. Previews for Adventures demonstrate Aloy and Varl transitioning smoothly from their standard attire into a carrot or astronaut outfit. Players can acquire various outfits as they progress through the game, yet some exclusive options will be available only to those who pre-order the game and buy the Digital Deluxe Edition. These include the “Alloy” Aloy Outfit, Banuk Armor Outfit, Ratchet Outfit, Rivet Outfit, Sackboy Outfit, Shadow Stalwart Outfit, and Shield-Weaver Outfit.

Some costumes in this collection are inspired by popular family-friendly characters from PlayStation. For instance, the Ratchet and Rivet Costumes are modeled after Ratchet, the main lombax character from the Ratchet & Clank series, and Rivet, another lombax from the game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Similarly, the Sackboy Costume is designed based on the Sackperson protagonist from LittleBigPlanet and the Sackboy: A Big Adventure game. In addition to these, characters in LEGO Horizon Adventures can wear the Ratchet, Rivet, and Sackboy Costumes. Lastly, there’s an original costume called “Alloy” Aloy, which is a metallic version of Aloy’s standard Nora outfit that exhibits robotic movements, unlike the agile and energetic actions of other characters.

LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Horizon Zero Dawn Outfits

In LEGO Horizon Adventures, many costumes resemble those seen in Horizon Zero Dawn. However, these outfits can only be obtained by pre-ordering or purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition. Not all outfits are immediately available; instead, you’ll need to make progress within the game to unlock them.

LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Shield-Weaver Outfit

The Shield-Weaver Outfit, also recognized as the UltraWeave Mk7.1, is modeled after the same titled costume from the game ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’. You can obtain this outfit by gathering five Power Cells and completing the Ancient Armory quest. Among all outfits in ‘Zero Dawn’, Shield-Weaver is the most potent as it features a rechargeable energy shield that protects Aloy from being pushed back by long-range attacks when fully charged. However, this outfit’s protective shield has its drawbacks, since players cannot customize this outfit’s abilities with modification slots. Furthermore, while robust, the outfit’s shield can be drained by heavy or continuous attacks, leaving Aloy exposed and vulnerable with her base health.

In the scenario where the Shield-Weaver Outfit is only available as a pre-order bonus, it’s plausible that Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo opted to omit the Power Cells or the Ancient Armory Quest from LEGO Horizon Adventures. This decision could be based on gameplay considerations, since the Shield-Weaver’s shield might have been deemed too potent for the LEGO game, with no other outfits in Adventures appearing to confer any advantages. It could also be a balancing move, as none of the other characters had access to shield-generating equipment prior. At this point, it remains undisclosed if the Shield-Weaver character in LEGO Horizon Adventures will continue to carry the rechargeable shield or not.

In the game “Horizon Forbidden West,” Aloy’s Shield-Weaver ensemble reappears, serving as her standard Nora Anointed attire, yet lacking its energy core, thus disabling its protective shield-creating function.
