LEGO Lord of the Rings Build is the Most Amazing Thing You Will Ever See

LEGO has created many amazing sets over its 90+ year history, but sometimes the most impressive builds are those made from scratch. It’s incredible to see builders combine pieces from numerous sets to create something truly unique, often matching or even exceeding the size and detail of official LEGO creations. However, a recent project – a 9-month build based on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit – stands out as particularly breathtaking.

I’ve seen amazing LEGO builds, but this one based on Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is truly special. It’s a huge, incredibly detailed recreation of Erebor, the dwarven kingdom from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, complete with tons of minifigures and what must be millions of LEGO bricks.

DrBricksDanki recently showcased their amazing LEGO creation on Instagram, detailing the entire building process. I was especially struck by the photos comparing it to official LEGO Lord of the Rings sets, like the Barad-dûr. Considering how tall the Barad-dûr set is—32 inches—it really highlights just how impressively large DrBricksDanki’s build is.

It takes some searching through the comments, but they’ve revealed details about the Erebor model. While it’s not made entirely of LEGO, builders used an incredible 150,000 LEGO bricks to create this landmark from Tolkien’s world – a number comparable to the large builds you see at Legoland.

I really recommend checking out all the posts on DrBricksDanki’s Instagram. They have detailed photos of the LEGO Erebor build. I especially enjoyed the videos showing Smaug, which likely came from the LEGO ‘Battle of the Five Armies’ set.

It’s clear they used minifigures from the existing Lord of the Rings sets, which must have been a huge effort. The large armies facing each other near Misty Mountain really bring the scene to life and show how committed they were to recreating a specific moment, not just a pretty background.

As a huge LEGO and movie fan, seeing the price of the Barad-Dur set at $450 is already a bit shocking! But honestly, if the Erebor LEGO set ever actually went on sale, I can only guess it would absolutely smash the record for the most expensive set ever made. We’re talking serious luxury item territory – probably costing as much as a high-end piece of furniture or even more!

DrBricksDanki suggests a new project is coming, but they’re keeping the details secret for now. Considering the large space where their Erebor build is located, it’s likely we’ll see another impressive creation based on The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. While Minas Tirith would be a good fit for a build of this size, it’s a popular LEGO model that’s been done many times before.

I’m hearing some amazing news – apparently, LEGO is actually making a Minas Tirith set! It’s supposed to come out later this year, which is incredible. But, fair warning, it’s rumored to be pretty expensive, so I’m already starting to save up!

I’m always amazed by LEGO builds like this! It’s so cool to see what talented fans can create with LEGO, and it really shows how much work and planning goes into something this impressive. We’ve all played with LEGO and built our own little creations – a spaceship here, a car there – but this is on a whole other level. It’s just incredible!
