LEGO Officially Reveals New Lord of the Rings Set

LEGO recently announced a new set based on The Lord of the Rings, featuring a detailed replica of Sauron’s helmet. The set will be available starting March 1st, and you can pre-order it now on the LEGO website.

LEGO and The Lord of the Rings have a long-standing relationship. The first LEGO sets based on the series came out in May 2012, shortly before the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game. These initial sets featured famous scenes like the Battle of Helm’s Deep and the Mines of Moria, and were followed by more sets inspired by Peter Jackson’s movies a year later. After a ten-year break, LEGO Lord of the Rings returned in 2023 with new BrickHeadz figures and the impressive Rivendell set—currently one of the largest LEGO sets ever created. LEGO has continued to expand this theme with detailed Icons sets like Barad-Dur and The Shire, as well as a Balrog Book Nook.

  • 538 Pieces
  • Includes Sauron minifigure

LEGO has officially revealed its new Lord of the Rings Sauron’s Helmet set, following recent online leaks. Based on the characters from Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy, the helmet is built from 538 LEGO pieces and stands over 13 inches tall. It measures 5 inches in both width and depth, making it ideal for display even in small spaces. The set costs $69.99, will be available starting March 1st, and is available for pre-order now on LEGO’s website.

At $70, this LEGO set with 538 pieces might seem a bit expensive, but it includes a Sauron minifigure, which makes it worthwhile. This detailed version of Sauron was previously only available in a much pricier set costing $460. So, while the Sauron’s Helmet set isn’t cheap, it’s a more affordable way to get this popular Lord of the Rings character, and it even comes with a One Ring!

The recently released Sauron’s Helmet LEGO set might be just a hint of what’s to come for LEGO Lord of the Rings in 2026. Last December, a leak from Brick Tap revealed plans for a massive LEGO Minas Tirith set. The leak suggests this set will be huge, containing 8,278 pieces and at least 10 minifigures, including characters like Denethor II, Faramir, King Aragorn, Gandalf, and his horse Shadowfax. Brick Tap also estimated the set would cost between $600 and $650. If true, this LEGO Minas Tirith would be the largest and most expensive Lord of the Rings set ever created, surpassing the Rivendell set which has 6,167 pieces and costs $499.99.

Okay, LEGO fans, word on the street is we’re getting a Minas Tirith set, and it sounds amazing. Apparently, it’s going to be a detailed, but smaller-scale, recreation of the White City, complete with all those iconic winding streets, little houses, and of course, the palace and White Tree perched on the mountain. What’s really exciting, and similar to the Barad-Dur set, is that the back of the model is rumored to feature several mini scenes – dioramas, if you will – depicting key moments from the movies that actually took place within Minas Tirith. It sounds like a fantastic display piece for any Lord of the Rings enthusiast!
