LEGO Officially Reveals New Star Wars Sets, But Some Fans Aren’t Happy

LEGO recently unveiled two new Star Wars sets featuring Yoda and Darth Vader, confirming details that had been circulating online since 2025. These sets, expected to be released in spring 2026, have received a varied reaction from LEGO fans, with some disagreeing with certain design elements.

The LEGO Star Wars theme, which first appeared in the late 1990s, is the longest-running LEGO line based on a licensed franchise still in production. LEGO recently announced a large number of new Star Wars sets for Q1 2026, including detailed brick-built busts of Yoda and Darth Vader.

Some Fans Think LEGO’s New Yoda Bust Is a Bust

LEGO collectors have had a varied reaction to the recently announced sets. The Yoda model, set number 75438, is proving particularly divisive, mainly because of its unusual googly eyes. Online, on platforms like Reddit, fans have expressed strong opinions, calling the new design everything from disappointing to a complete failure. Some have even compared Yoda’s new look to a Gremlin.

Beyond the sculpture designs themselves, many fans are unhappy with the nameplates included with the LEGO Star Wars sets. These plates are small and mostly black, with just the logo and the set’s name, leaving a lot of empty space. Some fans feel this makes the nameplates seem like a last-minute addition rather than an integral part of a display piece. While other LEGO Star Wars sets planned for 2026 have faced criticism, these are the first to receive such strongly negative initial reactions from dedicated collectors.

The Yoda bust costs $39.99, and the Darth Vader bust is priced at $49.99. Despite the price difference, the Darth Vader bust is actually a smaller build, containing 349 pieces compared to Yoda’s 399. Both LEGO Star Wars sets will be available starting April 26th, and they each include a minifigure, which is a major draw for many fans. Darth Vader has had over 30 different minifigure versions made, while Yoda has had around 15. Although older minifigures can be found for reasonable prices, they’re often out of production, making these new busts a great chance to get brand-new collectible figures.

Darth Vader Bust 75439 $49.99 349 18+ April 26, 2026

The new LEGO Star Wars busts are getting a mixed reaction online, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t sell well. Many people are criticizing Yoda’s eyes, which is similar to the reaction when LEGO released its Love Birds set in late 2025. Although some collectors initially found the birds’ eyes disappointing, the set launched successfully on January 1st and is currently mostly available on backorder from LEGO and retailers.

LEGO is releasing several new Star Wars sets on April 26th, alongside the recently announced collectible busts. These include the Razor Crest (set number 75447, priced at $149.99), the Anzellan Starship (75445, $69.99), and the AT-RT Attack (75444, $44.99). Fans can also expect a five-pack of BrickHeadz figures featuring characters from The Mandalorian and Grogu, called Allies & Villains, which will also be available on the same day for $39.99.
