Lenny Kravitz has talked about what inspired his role in the James Bond film, ‘First Light,’ and shared details about how he recorded his parts.
IO Interactive announced in December 2025 that Lenny Kravitz will voice Bawma, a key villain in the game. The award-winning musician is now sharing details about what inspired his performance and how he recorded his lines for the character.
Lenny Kravitz Pulls The Curtain Back On Bawma
In an interview with IGN, Kravitz shared that the character was partly inspired by people he knew growing up.
I spent my childhood moving between the Bahamas and New York City. Because I knew people in the islands who were already involved in similar activities, I had some prior experience to draw on, as he explained.
He also explained that he wasn’t able to record his lines with the other actors. He only received instructions from the project’s directors and relied on their guidance.
Honestly, going into this, I was totally blind. I hadn’t seen any trailers or heard any other actors’ lines, so I had no idea what to expect. The director, though, he had the whole picture. He knew how everything fit together and what everyone else was doing, which was a huge advantage. I just didn’t have that benefit; I was going in cold.
Okay, so I was really excited for the new 007 game, First Light, but it looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer – it’s now coming out in May instead of March.
