The Lenovo Legion GO 2 gaming handheld has seen a significant price increase, with the high-end AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme version now costing up to $1,999. This price jump is part of a larger trend affecting the PC gaming market worldwide.
The Lenovo Legion GO 2, first available in September 2025, is a strong competitor to handheld gaming devices like the ASUS ROG Ally X and Steam Deck. It runs on AMD Ryzen Z2 and Z2 Extreme processors and originally came with options for 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, plus an 8.8-inch OLED screen. While Windows 11 is common on these devices, some versions of the Legion GO 2 launched with SteamOS as the primary operating system.
The Lenovo Legion GO 2 Just Got a Ridiculous Price Hike
The price of the Lenovo Legion GO 2 has increased significantly. Current prices range from $1,499 to $1,999 at stores like Best Buy. The model with the Ryzen Z2 processor and 16GB of RAM now costs $1,499, up $400 from the previous price. The higher-end model, featuring the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and 32GB of RAM, has seen an even larger price increase of $650, jumping from $1,349 to $1,999. After adding taxes and fees, the top-of-the-line Lenovo Legion GO 2 will likely cost over $2,000 – almost as much as a similar-performing desktop gaming PC.
The Lenovo Legion GO 2 is currently hard to find, with very few units available, mainly as open-box items at Best Buy. Interestingly, it’s significantly cheaper than the ASUS ROG Ally X, costing around $500 compared to the Ally X’s $999 price tag (before taxes). While the Ally X has also become more expensive in some places like Japan, the price increase hasn’t been as dramatic as the recent jump in price for the Legion GO 2.
Handheld Gaming Continues to Get More Expensive
The recent price hike for the Lenovo Legion GO 2 is mainly caused by a continuing shortage of DRAM, a critical component affecting gaming and tech companies. This shortage has already increased the price of PlayStation 5 consoles and forced Valve to postpone the release of its Steam Machine. Valve also had to stop selling the less expensive models of its Steam Deck handheld. While the price of DDR5 RAM is starting to decrease slightly, it’s not expected to return to previous levels anytime soon.

With companies like Nintendo still considering raising prices, gamers shouldn’t expect any deals on consoles anytime soon. The recent price increase for the Lenovo Legion GO 2 suggests other gaming companies might also increase their prices, but it remains to be seen.
