Let It Die: Inferno’s Philosophy Is “A Sprint, Not A Grind”
Let It Die: Inferno blends the fast-paced action of roguelites with a focus on quick, skillful movement. The game challenges players to achieve as much as possible within a limited timeframe. A key feature is its time trial mode, which lasts just 15 minutes. During this time, players must quickly decide whether to escape with their collected items or risk death and start over with a new character. The developers found that 15 minutes provided the ideal balance – challenging, but not overly difficult.
Let It Die: Inferno is a really fast-paced, up-close-and-personal action game, and we spent a lot of time tweaking things and playtesting. We wanted to nail the sweet spot for how long players could stay totally immersed in that high-stress, intense gameplay without burning out.

In Deathverse, players were forced to compete in a deadly, fictional TV show called “Death Jamboree,” facing off against each other as contestants.
Let It Die: Inferno adds new ways to play, letting you battle both computer-controlled monsters in the depths of Hell Gate and other players for essential resources like SPLithium – which you’ll need to escape. The game’s creator, Shin, has been upfront: you should expect to die frequently, whether from monsters or other players.

Let It Die: Inferno’s Players Die And Return In Brand-New Bodies
The game Let It Die: Inferno is challenging, and players should expect to die frequently. But death isn’t the end! When your character, known as a Raider, falls in Hell Gate, they’re reborn into a new Body. These Bodies are specially created with unique skills and abilities to help you survive and thrive in the harsh world of Let It Die: Inferno. Shin recently explained the details of this Body system and how it functions within the game.
All characters in the game have the same basic objective: gather SPLithium and stay alive. However, each character is unique, with abilities that suit different ways to play, such as prioritizing fighting or focusing on collecting items. A character built for attack, for instance, is fragile and can’t carry much, but is incredibly powerful in battle – perfect for players who excel at combat.
In Let it Die: Inferno, dying means losing your collected items and current character. But the game’s roguelite system lets you make lasting progress. Resources spent on the Body Mastery skill tree carry over, making each new character stronger than the last. As Shin explains, these upgrades don’t disappear with each death, and each character maintains its own skill points. The skill tree offers multiple paths, allowing players to customize their upgrades and playstyle.
Let It Die: Inferno marked a significant departure for the development team. According to Shin, the biggest hurdle was transforming a fast-paced, 3D action game into a roguelite. They ultimately solved this by creating the Body system, which allowed players to maintain a sense of progression and reward by keeping some of their earned items between runs.
The team consistently maintained the series’ unique blend of humor and strikingly unusual visual style, seen in both Deathverse and the original Let It Die. A particularly memorable – and somewhat grim – detail is what happens when a player dies: their spinal cord is launched from Hell’s Gate into the sky. Shin explained the reasoning behind this distinctive visual choice.
We wanted players to really feel the constant death and rebirth of the Raiders. Since this couldn’t be done realistically with a human character, we created a striking visual style to capture the core essence of LET IT DIE, even if it was a bit shocking.
Seeing players’ surprised reactions to that memorable image has been a highlight for Shin throughout the game’s creation. He shared that it was ‘incredibly rewarding’ to witness those moments.
