As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that Square Enix’s announcement of Life is Strange: Double Exposure coming to Nintendo Switch has me more excited than a Pikachu at a Pokémon convention. Having played and adored the original on PC, I’m thrilled to see Max Caulfield’s story continue on a platform that’s as portable as my trusty Game Boy Advance once was.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure, as announced by Square Enix, will be available for download on the Nintendo Switch starting November 19th. A physical copy of the game is expected to come out in 2025.
On January 28th, 2025, you’ll be able to get a physical copy for the Nintendo Switch. However, the game has been out for PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5 already.
Check out the new Switch trailer, below:
In Life is Strange: Double Exposure, players take on the role of Max Caulfield, a photographer living at the esteemed Caledon University. Upon finding her dearest friend Safi deceased in the snow, Max attempts to revert time – a power she hasn’t utilized for years – but instead, unveils a parallel universe where Safi remains alive, yet still endangered. Max soon understands that the murderer will soon strike once more in both realities. The only one who can move between these two alternate timelines to resolve and prevent the same crime is Max herself.
In addition, a steel case edition is available for the physical copy, containing the entire game on a 16GB cartridge as confirmed by Square Enix. For this particular version, Engine Software, known for their work on Ni No Kuni II, Into the Breach, and other titles, has been responsible for the Nintendo Switch port, working closely with the original developer, Deck Nine Games.
In our assessment of the PS5 version of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, we expressed that it’s an exceptional addition to Max’s narrative, balancing nostalgia from her past with a unique identity. The tale takes center stage as its most compelling aspect, but the characters are equally captivating, including those who resonate deeply and elicit affection (Gwen is a fantastic character!). With an impressive soundtrack and stunning visuals, each chapter immerses you in a vivid world that’s sure to linger in your memory. I find myself drawn to Max once more, and I can’t help but feel grateful for Deck Nine’s work, which truly honors her legacy. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need a moment to compose myself as I weep into my pillow.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X. It is released on Switch on November 19th.
