As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has sent a wave of excitement through the gaming community, myself included. The Yakuza series has always been a favorite of mine, and the prospect of exploring new territories like Hawaii while embodying the legendary figure of Goro Majima is too enticing to pass up.
Sega, along with RGG Studio, have unveiled the upcoming addition to the Yakuza series titled “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.” This game is slated for release in early 2025.
In a contemporary spin reminiscent of pirate tales, the notorious yakuza figure Goro Majima’s legend will unfold. Sega has officially announced that this game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC (Steam and Windows) on February 28th, 2025.
Just like “The Man Who Erased His Name,” we’re heading back to the action-packed beat-em-up genre. However, the mainline numbered Like a Dragon games will keep their turn-based role-playing game characteristics intact.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
In the game as Majima, you’ll build a unique team and enhance your ship, the “Goromaru.” You’ll sail, fight off pirate ships, and conquer both open seas and secret islands. During combat, you can unleash powerful combos in mid-air or perform takedowns by switching between two distinct fighting styles: wielding short swords for fast, agile attacks or employing pirate tools in the flashy “Sea Dog” style, or using speed and flair to overwhelm enemies with the notorious “Mad Dog” style.
