Summary
- Link spotted in construction of Super Nintendo World in Orlando, sparking speculation about Zelda’s future inclusion.
- Current focus on Mario and Donkey Kong, but Zelda fans may see hope for the franchise being integrated later on.
- Possibility for iconic Nintendo franchises like Zelda to be included in park expansion, building on success of concept.
As an ardent Nintendo enthusiast, I couldn’t help but notice the unexpected cameo of everyone’s favorite hero, Link, at Super Nintendo World within Universal Epic Universe Orlando. Despite the park being still under construction, the allure of uncovering every detail about its forthcoming features has kept us fans on our toes.
Initially launched in Japan, Super Nintendo World has since expanded to a second location within California’s Universal Studios. Excited fans on the East Coast eagerly anticipate the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe Orlando, tentatively planned for May 2025.
Preview images of Super Nintendo World’s construction have been circulating for several months prior to its opening, similar to when the initial Super Nintendo World was under development. The primary subject of these photos is the construction of the entrance to Super Nintendo World, which resembles a portal transporting visitors from our world into Mario’s realm. Eagle-eyed Nintendo enthusiasts have spotted Link in a stained glass window at the lower right corner of some images. This design appears to be identical and reminiscent of the stained glass windows found in certain official Nintendo stores.
Will Zelda Be Part of Super Nintendo World?
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of anticipation as speculation swirls around the possibility of The Legend of Zelda making an appearance at Super Nintendo World in some capacity. Previously, whispers have hinted at both Zelda and Pokemon potentially gracing the stages of Super Nintendo World Orlando. Yet, the sighting of Link doesn’t automatically mean that the Zelda game series will be the primary focus of Super Nintendo World from its outset. Currently, it seems the park is concentrating on Mario and Donkey Kong.
However, a video also surfaced showing Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma inspecting the park construction, fueling these rumors even further. Still, fellow Zelda enthusiasts might want to manage their expectations, as there’s no guarantee of anything substantial when the area opens to the public.
It appears that Super Nintendo World has been thriving for both Nintendo and Universal, with Nintendo leasing Alarmo to guests staying at the official hotels within the Japanese park. This success might lead to an expansion of Super Nintendo World, incorporating more of Nintendo’s renowned franchises. Initially, the idea for Super Nintendo World parks even considered featuring Splatoon. Given that Nintendo has thought about integrating newer IPs, it seems very probable that The Legend of Zelda will eventually be incorporated into the park in a more significant way than just a stained glass window.
