Liquid Swords’ First Game, ‘Samson: A Tyndalston Story’ Looks Like a GTA Competitor

Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg’s new studio, Liquid Swords, revealed its first game today at the PC Gaming Show. Early hints suggested a realistic, story-focused open-world game similar in style to Grand Theft Auto 4, and now the details have been released.

Before the PC Gaming Show, Sundberg and Liquid Swords heavily promoted ‘Game 1’ on social media, sharing screenshots and discussing the game, which was being developed by their new studio.

Liquid Swords Asks Gamers to Brace for Impact

Liquid Swords, a new studio created by Christofer Sundberg – a key figure at Avalanche Studios and the creative mind behind the Just Cause series – has announced its first game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story.

Development on this game began in 2020. Initial previews showed a dark, urban environment, hinting at a style similar to games like Grand Theft Auto and Max Payne. Before this, the only confirmed details were that it was being created using Unreal Engine 5 and would be quite different from the developer’s previous work, particularly the high-octane, action-packed Just Cause series.

The PC Gaming Show played host to the game’s first major trailer, which you can see below:

Before the trailer was released, Sundberg shared that the development team at Liquid Swords includes experienced creators from well-known studios like Avalanche and Rockstar Games, suggesting the game has a lot of potential.

The new trailer revealed a tough, realistic crime story filled with powerful sounds, classic cars, and stunning images. It feels like something that could easily fit into the world of games like Grand Theft Auto – and that’s saying a lot!
